AI suggests impossible things

Just wondering if the AI could be improved so that it doesn't ask me as an ally to go bomb an uninhabited planet or defend a planet that is not in fact under attack. Also can the notification for an enemy/ally scout vessel arriving at my planet be changed so that it doesn't make it sound like the planet is about to come under attack. I mean those Arcova's aren't exactly heavy hitters.

pfff, people do stuff like that in real life, why cant the AI?

and i hear that they are working on the arcova issue

What is actually happening is an advanced AI ploy. They want you send your fleet all over creation so that their secret ally can come bomb your homeworld... so yea, it's a "feature"

Thanks just wanted to be clear on that.

I hope you didn't actually believe that.

I'm not sure whether or not this AI is a malicious genious or in need of some de-bugging.

@Kale - You can edit posts

@Daishzen - I was tryin to be funny, I may have failed miserably

I think there could be a reason its ordering you to defend planets not currently under attack. I think it has something to do with how the AI screams bloody murder everytime a scout ship passes through the system.

As for bombing an uninhabited planet, I don't know. I will try to make use of the replay feature (I hear it works now) to asertain the cause of your issues. Sorry for not giving a more serious answer earlier.

@Novalith: No you succeeded in being funny, I just forgot that sarcasm doesn't work real well in forum due to that whole lack of verbal communication in the forum thing

that is, until you see a fleet of like 200 coming after you
quite funny how they annihilate a system, though i guess that's not happening too frequently

i still wonder why they have a possibility to bomb structures which you can only unlock quite late in game where a single scout won't even make it's way near a structure of an enemy, as they will get pulverized on jumping into the system normally...

but back on topic, the AI also often comes defending a system of me where a scout of another AI went through (even though that AI had a cease fire with me as well), then asking why my fleet is not there, even though realizing that there is no threat at all in that system...

About asking you to bomb an uninhabited planet, are you sure it was uninhabited at that moment, or was it just uninhabited last time you saw it?

No it was uninhabited, my arcova had jumped out like less than 10 secs before the ai asked me to go bomb the planet back to the stone age. my scout was the only ship in the system and the system was uncolonized.

Since this is about the ai, here are some little annoyances I've had with them.
-Their messages come in the same times. Whoever auto-save occurs, at least 1-2 players will always want me to ally them. No where else, except right when it's saving.
-Maybe have multiple messages (or more messages) for a certain order. As as 5 different messages for attacking a planet
-ai tends to want you to attack/defend things, but won't give you their vision.

but that would be very unbeta like...

ai tends to want you to attack/defend things, but won't give you their vision.

that happens in the real world too.

@Shivoc - So then what your saying is you have seen the "defend a system" message triggered by scouts? This is good. I think they are fixing how the AI handles single or small scout encursions into a system.

As for the bombing of a planet... I think it wants you to capture it. There is just no way for them to tell you that, so they tell you to bomb it instead.

It honestly seems to me that the messages you see are realted to the "mission" system the AI uses to accomplish its tasks (see the beta change log for details). I cannot know for sure until a dev pokes their head in and explains some things.

@Nova Thanks, that would make sense, and as some one already pointed out this is the beta so I guess we can't expect perfect gameplay

Actually, I think the AI uses "bomb" in place of "attack" (don't think I've ever heard the AI tell me to "attack" a planet, just bomb). And since uninhabited planets tend to have pirates, what the AI wants you to do is help them get rid of the pirates.

The one time I played, the AI asked me to marry it, I got scared and closed the game window.

@Daishzen - Yep. Stupid beta. If only this was release, then we could point out bugs and have em fixed

@Lordkosc - Um...perhaps there is a coding error somewhere. Either that or someone laced your food with something

or you laced your food with something...

and they do fix the bugs...

A number of new messages went out with the last version, but there are hundreds of conditions/variations left to do. We hope to go above and beyond the typical RTS in text message variation

@ eetmorsqrls - I know they do, they fixed one I reported in a day. My remark was more directed at the "this is a beta it isnt perfect comment". Anywho, no more humor/sarcasm from me, as it never comes across right.
