Why don't I shoot back

because the pirates b nuking my planet

Hi all,

So I was enthralled with the posts on this forum (and GCII was cool) so I convinced the wife that I needed an new game and bought SINS.

In short, I started it up. Jumped from my home system. Saw some pirates. My ships say "Auto-attacking (pirate ship name here) but no one is firing. Neither me or the pirates. My ships pull the equivalent of a inverted negative G dive with a "Mig-28" (Mig-28s can't do that! so you say...), whip out the polaroid camera, and take a picture. I thought... ok. I'll see what happens when I colonize a planet. Maybe the pirates are bugged... I don't know. So I colonize a planet. All of a sudden all heck breaks loose. The pirates begin to lay waste to it with missals. I sit back and watch my recently build gauss cannons do nothing.

This situation repeats itself. Did I miss something? Do I need to do something to make my units shoot back... or is something really wrong?

EDIT YAY EDIT: Ok. I'm still posting this because it was a bug. I reloaded the game. Actually played the tutorial (instead of just jumping to the pirate planet) and wow wee! My ship starts firing! Yay. Off to waste time.

Remember to check that you have the latest hotfix installed.

The ships not firing shouldn't be happening outside of the Tutorial, and even then it's, from what I know, only been observed in the tutorial if people skip ahead of a step.

it "should" be fixed it the next patch

It's because the tutorial sets a special mode where you can't attack and under the right conditions it isn't reset to normal for the regular game. We've fixed it locally.

Umm they already did hot fix it... Or so I thought... And yep, all patches/hot fixes via Stardock Desktop.

It's been fixed, but there hasn't been a new version put out since then, so it's still an issue in the latest version. I'm not sure when the next patch will be yet, but the fix will be available through SD central when it comes.
