Schod Schod

Corpses

Corpses

I'll put this bluntly: the game needs better corpses.
I'm not really ok with the whole "spawn a few of this and a few of that" idea, I think orbital structures and capitol ships need to spawn debris that looks very close to the actual structure. a great example is the akkan and the gauss cannons, the akkan should go titanic and split down the middle and float derilect for a little while, the gauss cannon should have piece of it blown off but should remain otherwise largely intact.

if performance becomes an issue its as simple as letting the complex debris float derilect for a few seconds before making it explode into a set of smaller, "random" debris. but to have actual immitative persistant debris would be the best scenario.

or perhaps over time it could group together via gravity and form new, or enlarge existing, asteroids, moons, ect; adding some resources to what already exists there

The game has scale, but I dont think it is scalled for combat that takes hundreds of thousands of years.

Even a ring of debree would take ages to align that way, now immagine how long it takes for something to become a sphere.

incorporation of wormholes and black holes

For what purpose, obsticles?

Wormholes could act as "instant" phase lanes that just require the charge-up to "jump" across inter-stellar distances, providing an interesting wrinkle in combat situations.

Would the debree be minable or no?

I remember that before the betas came out this was discussed in length and many agreed upon the fact that it should be mined.

It would also get rid of the lag factor not to mention keep resource in circulation.

I like the idea of them being minable at least for capital ship debree and like lordkosc said, it would give construction ships something else to do besides getting blowen up.

Construction Ships do MORE than just blow up....they also give experience to your enemies.

OK, how about something useful to do besides get blown up.

On the main topic of this thread: I think that it would be awesome to have the ship debris in the game, as well as allowing the option to let them stay for an extended period. (obviously it would take some impressive hardware to manage A LOT of debris, so there should be the option to tone it down )

One of the things that has always bugged me about games in space is that when you kill something it magically disintegrates into dust. My friend and I would often play this sort of game and find ourselves with very imposing (not to mention cool looking) fleets, but when we fought each other the fleets would just bash each other into oblivion and the victor (who usually won by a small margin) would have a couple of ships left and empty space. All of the many *huge* and cool ships that were defeated there somehow completely disappeared.

I mean, think about chess. What is more fun than looking at a line of your opponent's pieces that you've taken off the board yourself, or more discouraging than seeing a line of your own? At least that's my opinion.

It's not a huge game breaking thing, but it is something that has urked since I started playing this type of game.

Peace out folks.

This should be an easy thing to mod in the future

Its possible and I've done it... Just set the time to disappear to like 5 hours...

well some games i play i just don't want to end so they go on for longer then that.

then set it for longer than 5 hours

anyway , eventually I think all sides will get some kind of ship to harvest the debris.

y not add that feature to the Construction ships, then they so something else useful besides just fly around and blow up when ur done building, put it on the tech tree, because only big structures would leave a lot of debris.

yeah I mentioned that awhile ago... nothing was ever said by the Dev's other than it will be able to be recycled... But by what races? All of them?
