Dont forget the crew ;-)

Dont forget the crew ;-)

barley worth a post but i just thought of it before i was going to bed, prolly falls in the details card for each ship, but how bout crew size. just sumthing letting me know how many crew are on board, maybe the number goes down if u take damage, but mainly it'd be sweet to see say for example, 100 crew on a flack frigate, and 10,000 on a cap ship, or more or less, adjusting the numbers to make it feel right of course. just lil details, thats what made gal civ awsome was the lil attention to details.

there isnt and generally the opponent's ability to constantly produce a fresh stream of ships pretty much wears down an advance.

I would just like to see some thing in the game that prevents one player from massing a large fleet and steem rolling through the entire map in one go. If they add some thing, be it either "crew" or "supplies", just some thing that forces you or the other player to return a fleet to the players own empire, after a certain amount of time fighting.

ditto! the game becomes un-fun really quick once i have an empire substancially larger then any other player... thus giving me more resourses and more fleet support so even if i run into thier biggest fleet and suffer substancial loses i can still rebuild faster and bigger then them. it becomes clean up very quickly... but again its a beta and i know this is being worked on

Isn't that called winning?

I mean, isn't that the point to become larger than the other empires and have the resources to defeat them?

If they have this huge fleet that dominates other player's fleets then chances are they have a significant % of their fleet points invested in that fleet. Hit them somewhere else. If they have the resources to amass that giant fleet and maintain garrison fleets that are able to successfully defend the rest of their empire, then they've beat you at the game. Why prolong the inevitable?

yea crew and the more crew the faster the hull repairs but it might be a bit complicated if the crew gose down cos then what hppenes when it reaches 0 and how do u get it back up ....

Send a transport with replacements and hope they don't get shot up while enroute.

or have a minimum survival number, and once all the crew is dead the ship explodes... to recrew ships, they need to return to a repair bay.
why would it explode? why not just stop functioning?

The last living person aboard would destroy the ship, rather than give it to the enemy!

Khan!!!!!

If the crew of a ship was low enough it could still travel through space just not be able to fight or use most of it's weapons (just have some sort of limitations put on it for the loss of man power).

exactly, let it have reduced repair ability (once it is researched) and limited defense ability, just so that it can limp back to the closest repair facility.

this would make repair facilities even more useful.

If the crew is being killed to almost extinction and the ship is still functional, then I'm assuming that a boarding party of marines is doing the killing. If they kill everyone maybe they just take over the ship? and possibly take prisoners (to use somehow).

I love to be able to use crew in some way or another. Every large ship should have marines for security, and a larger amount of marines with researchable boarding ships in a hanger bay. I do not think it is difficult at all the manage marines since they should be mostly self sufficient.

To much micro-management would be: "The captain of a capitol ship gets 2 pieces of cornbread with dinner while the rest of the crew only gets one! resulting in, of course, MUTINY!" Joking of course... but seriously, I like to have the option to manage allot!

...and if you wouldn't want to use marines, then don't equate them into your battle strategy.

Marines could also be useful for exploring shipwrecks or other neat stuff!

I don't have the beta, so I can't be to clear on how to make it work 100%
