I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

only problem with making them strike craft is then all carrier ships can launch em and all ships with torps could have fighters


We should be able to limit the type based on tech and race methinks.

it's even simpler than that. in the fighter section, you manually define what fighters are carried by that ship, but that leaves the problem of ships that can carry both. I like the idea of warping the trade ship code (just tell it to go to the location the user picks and see if giving it 0 for the max deceleration speed will make it go infinitely far and give it a proximity and timed fuse buff so it will explode sometime and will explode if it gets close enough to a ship). I'll try that one when I get back to my modding computer on wed or thurs.

Just a little test Ork Kroozer, Imperials are still next though, though until we get around to Orks maybe we'll work this in as temporary pirate or summin

nah, ork kroozers just generally look like that. The thinking is that it:

a) looks mean

b) orks don't think this far, so what does it matter?

if you could make terror ships or another model of kroozer that has recognizably imperial lines under the orky stuff, it'd be sweet if orks could loot ships. but now i'm ahead of myself too.

please post that screenie of the tau ship ingame, or let me try to take a better one, will ya? It looks sweet.

Oh yeah kinda forgot about this thread. I have a Retribution class ship and 4 cruisers (imperium). My friend has Tau ships. If you want I can get pictures of em.

I got an Explorer Battleship, Hero Cruiser, 4 Orca Escorts, and 3 Defender Escorts.

(BTW- I am Thrawn's friend he mentioned :p )

hmmm, those old tau would probably be very useful, i can't get any reference pics for them, but the imperial ships are pretty common, so we shouldn't need the info, but i'll leave it to inert to decide. Thanks a ton for the support :CONGRAT:

i just stumbled accross this thread and i think a battlefleet gothic mod would be really cool!
i really like the Warhammer 40k universe and i think this game would be a great platform for this.

more races are needed though, in my opinion  :CONGRAT:

i think he was referring to our initial roster of three, but that's just the first group, it'll have all the races with fleets (including the Adeptus Mechanicus most likely) by the time we're done, but we just want to get something done first.

I'm an expert when it comes to Warhammer fluff. I also play Battlefleet Gothic on Tabletop.

I have no mod skills, but I am pretty damn handy with photoshop. I'm willing to help with this, because I would really love to see a BFG mod for this game (the main reason I'm playing it in the first place is because it reminds me of BFG). But like I said, I don't really have mod skills. I am a fast learner...I'm just at work almost 10 hours a day...so free time is low.

If you need a source of info about anything BFG, a story written, descriptions, ideas...then I'm your man. But as for modeling and coding...heh, not here.

anybody good with photoshop or anything else that can be used to make textures is so incredibly welcome it's not funny. also, another fluff nerd to bounce ideas off of is a great thing to have.

Tiny FWI those turrets you have on the main body facing each way, there is only one facing the front on each.

Since we can't animate turrets we have to replace any L/F/R weapon with the same strength batteries facing a single direction, so it actually has 9 lances technically.

Additionally is the image viewing correctly anyone? I can only load a tenth of it.

O I see. Well anyways if that is the same battleship (Retribution class I think... I forget) you forgot the eagle head on the prow but other than that it looks freakin sweet.

oh, yeah, the eagle head. just the extra touch of imperial fanciness on the space cathedral cake. and you do not wish we'd done nids. somewhere between the eating anims and the fact that there are no regular shapes on the bloody things they just aren't a good idea. plus, the imperial ships are modular, so once you're done with the cruiser, you just need to replace the weapons batteries with lances and/or launch bays to get the different variants.

and that is one nice looking eagle on the bridge

We've already got a lot of good work in, and i just hope everything is as good as inert's work. Can't wait till we get the full modding package and see what can be done.
