Battlefleet Gothic

Battlefleet Gothic

I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

Ahhhhh... now it makes sense. I though I'd been clear, but apparently not. I do hear they make good ammo for guns, though, nothing like a ball of green muscle to shoot at your enemy.

And yes, they'll get something orky. Maybe make their culture buildings an asteroid with a bunch of crude antennae sticking out that recruit orks to the cause. And slapping a bunch of bammers and orky glyphs on an asteroid is a good idea too. I'm not sure even orky injinewitty can make their buildings work without a big rok to build from. Also, we need big mek's playgrounds, so they might get two research trees.

EDIT: Grrr, this is the good post, but it's also the only one I can edit. Looks like it stays.

Son of a... my post got stolen by gremlins.

kiernyc, glad to see that confusion's sorted out, didn't mean to confuse.

thrawn, first off, inert is still well, i think, he hasn't been around for a little bit. I think we need mekaniaks' playgrounds or something for research as well, but a rok studded with banners'd be a good idea for the other half of the tree. and for culture, just stick some antennas on a rok!

That's because the current topic of resources has completely eluded me ;p Also I'm very busy this week, Idolator done soon though. Orks could upgrade some of their ships to mek ships? As I doubt they'd see little point in building on the ground when it's so much easier without gravity.

Ech that happens to e all the time...when I go into "Advanced Mode" in the posting box, my whole message is gone and sometimes when I post it, it doesn't event show up and is lost...very annoying!

Idolator's finished, one weird ship with its antennae and skyscraper for a bridge. What's even weirder than that is the fact I didn't go over the poly count.

edit: Whoops, reason it wasn't over the poly count was because I forgot the large fin underneath.

:D

But where's my Cruiser?
Nice, those Tau sizes will be very useful, and also hindering as I now have to resist the urge to model them until I get Chaos done. ;p You and Thrawn will both be getting a copy of the Alpha once we get those precious full mod tools.

no battery for your cruiser Thrawn sorry...I may put it up later I may not.

:D I think you said I would get it awhile ago when I posted those bad quality ones but this confirmation makes me oh so happy! :D

C'MON IRON CLAD GIVE US THE MOD TOOLS!
We are counting on you Ironclad! MOD TOOLS!!!!

BTW: On Tau ships (the old ones anyway) The big guns pointing out from the fronts are the Gravitic Launchers which shoot the Tau Torpedoes. Also on the Hero Class, the Batteries on the broadsides are not supposed to be different sizes I was just foolish lol.

EDIT: Oh yeah and the Explorer Battleship is not supposed to be as lop-sided as my model is...it is supposed to be straight (just the fact that the way the model construction worked out, it was kind of askew...curse you citadel miniatures! lol)

That thing is a Tau rifle from the infantry models. So you can put that in but Kiernyc just added that.

Have read this whole thread, the mod looks awsome :) I have no experience with BFG but read alot of the 40k stuff (and a good friend wants me to start an army might go orks)

Have been thinking about aspects of the game that arent on the list right now,

Artifacts: Haven't heard much about them in this thread (or the mod forum) so I was thinking IN and Chaos could find STC's (Chaos would have to corrupt them) Necron can find dead cities (lost hordes of Necrons and tech) Tau I really have no idea dont know much about them, Orks could explore a planet and find a lost tribe with a big mean bad@zz who boosts their fleet or some tech they dont have but the IN has. Eldar could find remnants and writings about a lost craftworld, boosting their tech and lore.

Pirates: It was stated that the Dark Eldar would be the pirates so instead of buying them off with monies, the IN/Chaos/Orks could use humans (IN would then have a neg effect on their planets for a while, Chaos would regen slaves but slowly, and orks would have a limited supply unless they attached and invaded a human held world) Necron's wouldn't care to much but could possibly influence a target (using the influence of their 'Gods' to sway the Dark Eldar) and the Eldar I dont know im lost with them like the Tau.

Space Hulks: Can these be HUGE conglomorations of space junk where u can explore and find tech and maybe salvagable equipment. Huge as in 8 to 10 times larger than the current grav well, this would be a place of contention cause it would take so long to recover everything and would give the race or races in control (or partial control as you battle it out for dominance) an edge in tech research time(?) special ships(?) Ancient ships (think century old grande cruisers, tomb ships, Hulks,) Etc

Again great mod and looking forward to it

Pls dont flame to hard I like 40k just dont know everything about it.

firefighter, good ideas, they're pretty much on the mark for the existing lore, so you'll see stuff a lot like it in the mod. Don't worry, I don't flame.

Thrawn, thanks for pointing out the conversion, but it seems to almost be standard issue, so it might be good to keep there. You should see the bridges on my tzeentch cruisers, they look like baroque castles or something.

Ya the Explorer has a Gravitic Launcher in the rules but for some reason it never ended up on the model so...I added one. You can always just put the Gravitic Launcher from the Hero Cruiser also onto the Explorer.

A Tzeentch Fleet you say? That sounds interesting to me! Tzeentch is my fav of the Chaos Gods (despite my loyalty to the Greater Good ;p )

Regarding the delayed mod tools...

I made a post suggesting why there is a delay, alas I got not a single reply. To reiterate that here; it could be that the proposed business models are incompatible with releasing decent mod tools, and that until the exact model is decided and how a healthy and productive mod community would impact said models....the tools may be on hold (?) .
I think they're just prioritizing the patches. I'm pretty sure they'll get the mod tools ready after 1.1 at the very latest.

And yes, the tzeentch cruisers look cool. They'll look even cooler when I've painted them.

Could someone with an imperial fleet please tell me approxematly how long the diffrent shipmodels are, just to clarify I'm interested in the measurements of the tabletop models.

The reason I'm askin is because I'm going to try and build my own ships. Therefore I need to know roughly how long I should make my battleships, cruisers etc.

I know it's OT as hell but I didn't know where else to ask so I hope you all forgive me for this transgresion.

Thanks

Nah, it's fine, I only have cruisers (for the time being), and they're about 4 inches long and about an inch high with all those fins, IIRC.
A Retribution Battleship is 5 inches long and approx. 2 inches high in the tallest section (near the end where bridge is.) Look at the my photo above of the Retribution Battleship to get an idea too.
