I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

My summer is defined as the time I have off from school in the middle of the year. It's 45 or so days this year. :NOTSURE: I go to a high school where the school year ends extremely late, and am going to a college that starts very early, so I may not be able to finish my part of the work during the summer if we have to test much. And the seasons up here in new york are:

Winter- should be cold, but it isn't. Global warming is at fault, clearly.
Spring- should be getting warmer, but it's absolutely freezing, clearly disproving global warming.
Summer-should be hot, and it most certainly is. Global warming is at fault, clearly.
Fall- should be getting colder, and it most certainly is, clearly disproving global warming.

So we have two seasons as well, one in which Al Gore is a moron, and one in which he's smart. :p.

Also, Alcari (most of you guys don't know him, but he's our guy working on tech and research) got the chaos tech tree done, I wonder how it is, but the ideas he gave were really quite excellent.

Well if all goes to plan (which i doubt it will but i'm trying to be optimistic here) we should have a Alpha of the forces of chaos by the end of the month if all goes incredibly well

on that note X we need to get together and discuss some things with the entire team so everyone knows what they are doing and how they are doing it so drop on msn and we can organise a time that suits everyone

Stang I was hoping there would be Imperials, Tau, and Chaos in the Alpha. Any alpha is going awesome though. Do you want me to PM you with my email you so can email me a WINRAR file or are you releasing this to the public?

X we will need the building code and just a note try runing one of your ships and count the errors... we kinda need that fixed =P if thats stuff we need to tell it about or what iuno

and thrawn when its done we will release it to the testers (thats you guys who have helped us along here ) probbly via a direct link in a pm or some such

the next part after we have seen that there are no outstanding bugs in chaos we will work on the Imps and balance after that i recon we might be able to go it a more public test

Good to hear that the Dark Eldar have been pushed aside for once :P

Just to compare:



I still wish I could model / texture but for modeling its too confusing to be self tought (the tutorials are skip from "how to rotate the camera" to "MAKE THE EIFFEL TOWER!" on most) and texture software costs money and skinning is confusing :P

Yay, cheerleaders!

Prezo, I'll see what errors I get soon, but first I'll need to get up a new gameplay.constants, or just kludge it with existing damage types tweaked to what we need. Currently, I'm sitting on a hell of a lot of damage type conflicts, but once I fix them, I'll just need to change the models to some that have everything we need, and they should work. Hopefully.

And yes, chaos alpha, IN beta, all three final release sounds good for now.

anyway as x said thats the plan for the first releases... hey what was that thingy you where saying would be interesting to get working an SVN or somthing? mabye we could hook one of them up for the release... or mabye we should just get around to it =P

No it isn't. :SURPRISED:

Might I ask what led you to that conclusion? Had a project where you and a partner were were working on a project and you both changed and committed a file? Because that's the main problem for casual users (you can split and merge, but that's harder). Otherwise, as long as you get a good program (such as Tortoise SVN), it's really amazingly easily manageable, and very handy to have for a major coding project, because you can have all the stuff easily accessible, with all your edits saved, and can do it for tiny bits of bandwidth each time you do anything, and we won't have problems with overlapping changes because we're generally working on different files.

Dark Eldar have TWO differant kinds of ships. Are they seriously going to be in this as a playable race?

Or are they just going to be pirates?

just pirates, no worries. And if you treat all the options as seperate ships (like the IN cruisers are, but they don't even include all the permutations), then the dark eldar have a lot more types. Enough to be very interesting raiders.

And that makes for some damn cool and scary raiders, even though not all maps have them.

Do you think that the timer should go away when you're dealing with dark eldar for that extra bit of shocking fright? Also, should the more regular assortment of human, eldar and ork pirates be running about in the other maps, and occasionally as a non-playable scenario opponent?

That is a pretty awesome quote.

I think that the Dark Eldar, while obeying the timed rules, should have a Vasari Phase Gate-like effect where they can jump right from their base (read: portal nexus to comorragh) to any target planet. THAT will scare the bejeezus out of anyone fighting on a map with dark eldar pirates!

me and iNert where having a talk and we thought that maybe they shouldent have a warning at all (or at least no message or sound)and should raid more often but in smaller numbers. also that mabye their planatary attacks should be only attacking population and not infrastructure (but huge pop damage)

Yes, chaos will be able, hopefully, to gain a tech similar to the TEC's insurgency tech, which should represent chaos revolts quite well. Yum!

Also, we now have access to the Sins Plus Mod, courtesy of DANMAN, which absolutely rocks (also, thanks to uzii for making an awesome mod in the first place, shame he retired). This'll help a lot with getting an alpha out soon, and also with it being really high quality.

EDIT/ additional stuff: Inert, I checked out the slaughter model, and it worked okay, I couldn't see the beams work, though. Also, I couldn't remember how to make the texture work =P. Oh, and apparently left side emitters aren't quite working right. Odd. It wouldn't be bad, but the ships want to turn that broadside, even though it doesn't work =/.
