I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

Too much for not enough. I guess im lucky? But same here. Now, as far as this mod is concerned, how far along is it? I know you have most of the models for chaos down, plus ive seen a decent amount of imperial and tau. Still no skins? I wonder if I can scrounge up a friend or two who might be able to help.

I think I'll try out some escorts in my next game, although I have no idea when it'll be.

Currently my IN fleet is going to look something like this (be warned, this changes with my mood, but I rather like this one, so it'll at least see play):

1x Emperor
1x Mars
1x Dictator
1x Dominator
3x Gothic
2-3x Dauntless

It's got a dictator for close in fighter support, an emperor and mars to put their firepower into what needs it most (crippling ships that are damaged, and the like) and churn out enough bombers to make the other guy faint, while the dominator toasts prows and the gothics just try to shoot both broadsides. Going in, it's got quite a few Nova cannons to keep ships from combining turrets, and a lot of torpedos for herding purposes. The dauntlesses are there to slash at rears and generally be a huge nuisance, or to outmaneuver the other guy's flankers and be annoying that way. 9 lances are nothing to laugh at, after all. What do you guys think?

I'm sorry, I'll talk about the mod some now. I'll try to get sins plus so I can work on the planets, hopefully I'll be able to get them done tomorrow so I can start playing with ship speed, maneuverability and that fun stuff.

Skinners would be a great help.

Thats a nice fleet, even if i must disagree with the lack of escorts, but its still a good one nonetheless. Make sure when you play to pair up a gothic with a dominator-Just think, the lord of WB and the lord of Lances, all in one gift wrapped package. Those two ships paired up outgun ANY other two cruisers, from any race, for their displacement and points. theyre both 30cm, and so will both fire at the same time. stg 12 WB with stg 4 lances (2 lances = stg6 WB, so 4 lances = stg 12 WB) is a battleship-sized broadside, and you have also got a NC and torps in the mix. The only suggestion i can make for your fleet is swap one of those gothics for another dominator, sure you will have less torps, but you will have 3 NC's and will also have two uber-cruiser pairs.

Now, on the mod, xthetenth, did you want me to take some detailed shots of some ships? as in top/bottom/side/front/rear photos, so you can use them as a reference when modeling? any particular ships you want?

I'm not sure on the ship pictures, I'll let Inert ask those questions.

On the Gothics, I do have a reason to want to pair two of them. Torps are at their best inside 30 cm, where nova cannons can't fire (also, I don't want to spam NC), and spitballing 12 at a single ship can really put the hurt on a ship. As a bonus, you don't have to waste shots punching through shields, which the NC does. The only thing that matters with the broadside lances is that they have a target, so I don't have to worry about which aspect I'm targeting. This means I don't have to worry about the pair's facing to their enemy, just about keeping them stuck in, which is very handy. I'll try out your idea too, but I don't think I have the wbs to do it, and I'm just a fan of the Gothic. Sure it will die horribly against Eldar, but I've had great success at convincing my friends to play MMS Eldar (fan rules, they're very interesting, and make all your weapons passable, but give the Eldar good defence, which they need because both their moves are before they shoot. Try to find them, they're worth a shot). Finally, I'd rather not pay for escorts (although the dauntlesses will be plenty expensive on their own).

A fair list I should say.

And actually, if all goes according to plan, I should be using a very sizable chunk of my fleet. something along the lines of between 2-3k on an opening battle sequence with two of my friends. One plays imperial and the other is playing orks. And seeing as we dont want to make anyone *cough* orks *cough* feel ganged up on, it'll be a three way fight.

Take the battle of pelucidar in the armada handbook, and modify it by having two imperial factions duking it out for three turns or so while the orks build up, and then let the mayhem begin.

So me thinks I'll be taking a very generous mix of ships, including a mobile reserve to deal with any unforseeables.

I fully understand your reasoning, the only thing with that massive stable is that I don't see you having call for more than a battleship or two unless you're really planning to have some epic battles, in which case send me your address, I want in ;) . Also, I just realized that my chaos fleet needed two more cruisers to be balanced, so I'm adding another Desolator (yeah, I know it's a lot, but 4 ac and a pair of lances at 60 cm are just too much fun to pass up, especially when your main opponent has armored prows, and I'm thinking either a carnage or acheron. The points work better with another slaughter, but leaving that much strength in the flanking group would weaken my firing line a bit more than I'm comfortable with, especially considering that I only have four ships on meat shield duty (yes, I fully expect to lose the Repulsive in the first round of shooting, but against Imperials, that still gives me a turn of its firepower, and helps keep me from bracing my carriers, and the rest are there to keep as many ships braced/crippled as I can.)

I would -love- an epic battle of...well..epic proportions. It'd be fun, take forever....and....well...be fun!

And as for my reasoning for the large 'stable' of ships, is that As much as it'd be cost effective to have one, maybe two battleships and maybe a third of my list, im basically getting a variety and number of everything. I think the only ships to have only one copy in my fleet lists will be each of the four battleships, and one copy each of the endurance and defiant light cruisers.

not by me... but my holidays are coming up at the end of the week so i'll have plenty of spare time

and to suk... mate get a girlfriend we dont need to hear what you get up to with your sisters(she probbly would have got more if she wasent adopted -wink,wink ,nudge nudge-)

hey what does that come under for the reporting? spam ,troling or excesive language?

anyway i'm gona get back to concentrating on sins... i have a bit of a problem where i compulsivley mod any game i come into contact with. i'll try to get motivated to go back to sins and get the team going again... we have already postponed once... dont want to have to do that too many times

Hey there.

I am by no means an experienced skinner, but I am currently dedicating a lot of time to learning the skill. A project like this would be really good for me to get some practice, so I would be happy to have a good go at a few models over the next few weeks see how I get on, and maybe create something useful.

Hello, I'm very happy to meet you, we need a skinner really badly, and in all honesty, if you can get a texture done that's better than a flat color, that'll be doing us a major favor. Ok, Ive just sent an email to the person who was working on the Homeworld 2 mod for BFG. As you can see by her work, http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=73395&page=1&pp=15 , she is very talented. I asked her if she would help us out over here on the sins BFG mod, because were in need of a texturiser right? i await her reply, lets hope she agrees to help out. ^^

we dident create this thread and the thread creator has nothing to do with the mod... i just saw a thread and decided not to make a second

on another note discussions on our modcraft forum are debating whether or not we should put all the ships for all the races in or only ones that fit into the rolls to make it so you aren't spoilt for options. i think all ships because we can and they are all defined and different... our tech tree man says that we should stick with the rolls so i thought we should see what you guys thought on the matter
