Just a little something I found.

I just received my latest issue of PC Gamer Magazine, and inside, it has a preview of SOASE.

It talked about the "Novalith Cannon", which is a TEC superweapon capable of striking planets anywhere within a solar system, to devastating effects. A planetary shield can hold out against it, but only for a short period of time.

excerpt:

"I built a pair of these 'fully armed and operational' battle stations when I established a beachhead in a new solar system, and quickly brought a local empire to its knees by destroying several key colonies ahead of my invasion fleet. Suddenly, every empire offered a cease-fire agreement at once!"

I'm guessing this is U.S PC Gamer as oppose to the UK one, since i wasn't aware of a SOASE preview in the recent issue.

yea but i still hate super wepons i hate umm cos its a race to get a super wepon first then defend it not strike out at the bad guys they just annoy me

hopefully (if it is indeed there) the upgrade to allow jumps over 2 planets (in conjunction with the novaliths similar attack range) will allow such fears to be dispelled.

It isn't the fact that a super-weapon exists... I have other concerns

My friend said that PC Gamer had a picture of the Novalith and it was the one below, but that looks VERY Vasari-ish...and so does everything else in that picture. So is this the Vasari super weapon or is the Novalith the Vasari super weapon?

doubtable, that looks like a big cannon though...

my guess is that its like the vasari marza... but then it COULD be the vasari superweapon.

ohohoho! shiny gate thing... TELL me that the ships go through the thing SLOWLY and appear just as slowly on the other side, that would make it super-cinematic-cool.

Perspectives can be misleading. It's hard to judge size if you don't know how far away something is.

There are ships right next to it, unless they are WAY WAY down there, it shouldn't be that big. Nice scout btw.

dont be fooled, the thing 1) is in the far foreground, thats not next to the other ships
2) its circular and could easily fit within the tele gate
3) its a long gun, but that also adds itself to the possibility of it being a marza for the vaz
5) vaz ships are huge.
and 4)
