Rank Sins of a Solar Empire from 1 to 10 (ten being the highest)

For all the people who haven't pre-ordered

Can the beta/pre-order people rank the game from a 1 to 10. One being horendous, and ten being stupendous. This will give people an idea and give Stardock and idea on their game and its current state.

Thank you.

With just seeing the screens and other comments, I would give it a 8. I haven't pre-ordered it. I just think think it should come out sooner (although it probably coldn't).

if it was released as is, id prolly give it a five
if you're asking how good it is for a game that is 187 days, 16 hours, and 26 minutes away from release, id give it a 9.5

currently, the AI sucks and there are some other issues, it would probably be better to ask this in mid October, after beta 3 is released.

this game, as is, is definitely a solid 5 -- middle of the line, average. A game released to make some cash...

Except, while it is as good as many (icky) released games, fact is it is a beta, with bugs being squashed, the AI on the upswing, and full developer / player base interaction. Which means that I doubt it'll make much under a 10, in the end.

I think rating the game atm would be unfair as its a limited beta. We have yet to see all the TEC stuff, the Advant and Vasari race, single player campaign and multiplayer option, and many other futures.

So rating it atm is not fair IMO. But since you ask, i will rate it, it will be for the "fun" factor of it.

8/10

The others gave a fair, and taken together, equal assessment of the current state of the game. There are problems, but it is impressive, and this I must stress.

I hope I paint a good picture, as it is my intent.
I really started playing the game at the beginning of the second and current beta. Right away I liked it. I played it until it crashed my under specs laptop and them booted it up again. Right then I had a lot of time to just play it and break it; and I found a lot lacking. I have been quite busy since and now has been the first time in a while where I can sit a play for a while at one time. But, I don't, because it is currently more fun to reminisce about the epic space battles and the day dreams they spark than play.

That said, it is an early version, with many thing purposefully held away from my quiet secret keeping eyes. And, I am not regretting buying this game (yet).

Edit: I can't catch errors on white!

game is stable, and fun...

as is , it is missing so much content due to its BETA state, it is lacking a lot of the depth I feel will come once it hits retail, all of which is to be expected.

plus this game will shine once multiplayer is out, right there my score will get a +2

5/10

As others have said, the current game is missing so much, so it's surprising that it earns those 5 out of 10 at the moment.

The AI sucks, there is no multiplayer, only one race which is only half implented, etc.

I wager to say, that multiplayer alone (or a decent AI respectively) would give it +1.

The inclusion of the other two races probably another +1.

Balancing of the current abyssimal culture system: another +1.

This would give it a 8/10 with extensions that are sure to come.

So, in the end, the game will probably end up higher then 8/10, which sounds good to me.

7/10 even if it was released as is (this being a difficult scale, as I've seen shitty games get better and better games get much, much worse). the game is addicting as hell and the fun factor is definately there. there are huge gaps missing and the ai does stink, but its a great way to consume time and its actually quite a bit of fun in the process.

I don't play online so I could give it a 9. I like the changes I'm seeing with the new beta.

This thread is nearly a year old...

Bksabath,

Try the_Monk's guide under the green text here. You can also try version 1.09 (1.1 Beta) and see if it works for you then.

SD return policy.

By the power of Greyskull, ARISE, foul thread, and walk among the living! Feast and enjoy, for Brains shall be eaten!

...

Right. Seriously, it's a very unusual game type, it is possibly the best at what it does, and it's a very good game for being in any genre - but it might be a bit on the slow side for the younger generation. I'd rate it 7-8 somewhere.

That being: It is a very good game, but it will not appeal to everyone.

Right now, a 9.

But it's still quite confusing to me. It's so big, that I easily get lost - and I'm playing with one star and 14 planets. I can't imagine how anyone keeps track of anything with bigger universe settings. I mean, really - once I have 3-4 planets I get confused as to what should be built where, and what's doing what...

Hopefully I'll figure it all out. The real time thing makes it a lot harder, though.

well if you do a multi-star system and only one habitant per star system, its pretty easy. secures your system, upgrade stuff and forget about it and move to the next. just don't neglect defense where you need it at the chokepoints and stuff:D but those games take forever so i usually stick to like a 20 planet 2v2 vs AI game :D

This will only get better. :HOT:

id rate it sa 4 to a 3 since being TECH in the beginning as a noob... the only thing you know how to do is rush and put aup a losey fight until someone shows you the flaws and tells you to watch replays and then helps you make a good to legendary fight possible... :( + :) = :^Q

Plus... they beta should really update its battleships for all factions and give the cruiser less support since the tied changer should be the battle ships... not the cruisers... and i think (IN my Opinion) their should be like a 200-300 limit of the same ship being produced for EACH givin player to prevent the Experienced players from having the new players watch in horror as fleets of like 1000+ LRM's or ILLIUMS come striaght at their front door and or front line which would almost make me break the disk and unistall it, but the ppl where cool and helped me out in the next game they played..... so legendary players here for the online playing are the actually the ones scaring noobs like us away from online playing.... thats why u have to play with like 4 hard AI and 4 players of the same experience.....

so with that said my actual rating is 3.4

Addictive and epic. A very successful blend of RTS and 4X - though it's more RTS than 4X and lack the depth of a full 4X game as a result. Hope the sequel/expansion will see more 4X elements.
