Whats your favorite Book and movie of all Time??

Heya, i just read this kick-a** book called "Weapons of Choice" by John Birmingham, which is currently my favorite book of all time. i thought i'd just share it with you coz i want more ppl out there to read the trilogy coz it rox. in short, naval fleet from 2021 gets sent back in time by an accident to WW2, right into the middle of an American task force, heading to midway. pretty much, lots of shootin and a nukin until they see the stars and stripes on each other and stop. i love the differece in technology, and how the 1940's ppl react to jets/laptops/helicopters. anyway, Axis get some of the ships, figure out how to build nukes nd other stuff, also find out bout the alternate history nd make changes. really good read, with two more in the series. anyway, my fav movie isnt really a movie, its a series. the re-made Battlestar Galactica series, which when i first saw, took my breath away with graphics and battles. i like the idea of fighter battles, instead of the dogfighting-starwars look, more realistic movement and stuff. a little too dramatic though, but good story and great suspence. lawl, excuse the spelling. ok, enough o mine, whats ur fav book and movie???

The new BSG for TV on Sci-Fi is mighty fine, and damn I loved the episode where the Pegasus took out 3 Base Stars... Sadly to be lost...

Interesting book, I will pick it up , I love anything WW2.

I found the book for 2.50 on half.com!

And here is the wiki entry on the trilogy : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_of_Time

I see all 3 books are out already, if the first is really good I'll grab the other 2 also.

If you like alternate histories, try Eric Flint's works -- the 1632 series in particular, though he has a few others now. A modern day "hicksville" gets transported back in time to Europe... and things will never be the same.

Anthem, We The Living & Atlas Shrugged. Read them all when I was 15.

My friend whos last name is Rand named his daughter Stephanie Ayn Rand. He also uses the screenname johngalt at a few sites. We all still love rush 2112. Her writings inspired us to make a load of money off of "the Rocky Horror Picture Show" (I still have the hots for Columbia) and made us what we are today. (yea right)

Oh and with favorite tv shows it was really a tie between Mission Impossable and "Name of the game" name of the game only came on once a month and then only late at night... had to sneek downstairs to watch it as I was only 8 at the time...

Now you know more about me then most people who really know me!

I don't read that many books, but I recently read through Neuromancer and quite enjoyed it. it's old school cyberpunk, one of my favorite genres next to post apocalypse and steampunk.

I absolutely adore Legend of the Galactic Heroes, an epic space anime series which is over 110 episodes long.

It tells the struggle between two warring human empires, one a monarchy and the other a democratic republic. There are no real bad guys in this and the cast of people is very large with lots of likable characters on every side.

It's also a fairly realistic series, with no magic weapons and mysticism like so many other sci-fi series and movies have, but good old school type warfare (i.e. lasers, rockets, mines, fighters, battleships, carriers, etc.) with ten thousands of ships on each side.

The fights are also fairly brutal, but very honest in it's consequences, with a lot of casualties in the cast. It's not like Star Trek, where just the extras die.

My fav books are the Honor Harrington series by David Weber. Lots of starships fighting, domestic and interstellar politics, moral dilemnas, complex cultures and societies, and aliens which look like cat/monkey half-breeds.

As for fav movie, its a toss up between V for Vendetta (viva la revolution!), and Monty Python and the Holy Grail (HELP HELP!! I'm being repressed!).
