The Space Elevator Glitch Survives

SO Pre-Patch

would load a save game, all space elevators disappear traffic remains.

Post-Patch

load a save game, space elevators disappear, traffic ... dims? or rather loses dimensionality... seemed fine on some planets, and on other unless you viewed from a very specific angle there was no visible traffic.

Hope it helps.

So are the space elevators what I've been mistaking for city's? Cuz real space elevators would go out ALOT further...

My system is pretty nice, 2ghz 2 gig ram, 512 mb video.

Also missing various textures, the big capital shipyard, and the light carrier cruiser are super super dark, with blue highlights, and no gray

Oh heres a slight improvement, while old elevators disappear, newly colonized worlds will have their elevators.

The only thing there that actually tells us squat is "2 gig ram", FYI. You can place 512MB of memory on a lot of video cards... and most of the video cards that have it can't use it because they just plain suck (I've seen FX lines with 512 MB's memory... ick). And a 2GHz Core 2 Duo will destroy a 3 GHz P4, much less a 2 GHz one.

AKA: More info please!

I'm also curious as I don't have any of these issues on a 7900 GTX 512, Athlon 64 X-2 4400+ and 2 GB Corsair XMS.. Not top-end anymore but still in the upper mid-range machines that will be in use at launch. No issues at all with the texture problems you issue or any other graphical glitches that I can tell. Also, what graphics drivers do you have installed? I have the latest Nvidia ones that came out the day Bioshock did, maybe new drivers will help your issues.

Yeah, I know. I just wasn't sure if they ever actually released a 4 GHz P4. Wasn't that the gist of my comment?

That was meant as more of a "What you told us isn't the information we asked for, and here's why" than "Hey you idiot!"

Its just that I tend to be a little blunt. I happen to be tact-deprived! Did I mention I'm blunt?

Oh, and btw, I'm blunt!

Yeah that build should work great with this game. Do you know what drivers you have installed? You might try installing the Beta nvidia drivers that came out with bioshock as they seem to work really well with me and I have a similar card (7900 GTX).

Here is a link to the beta drivers page, choose Vista or XP as needed: http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html

no problem ron

anywho- I updated my drivers no less than a week ago, so it really ought not to be them, Ill try out these beta drivers when I have a chance tommorrow.

If the newer beta drivers don't help, please zip up some screenshots of the problems, your dxdiag report (Start -> Run -> Type: dxdiag -> Click OK. Wait for the report bar to finish then save), and your save games where this is occuring. You can email it to [email protected]. Thanks.
