No novalith cannon plz!! I hate super weps

Who thinks the same as i do?

i simply hate super weps they are annoying and just snipe you from miles away which ruins the game. Like c&c3 its just a race 2 get the first super wepon and kill other people super wepon then use urs its just crap. I prefer games with no super long range wepons or super wepons. with super long range wepons and super wepons u can build ur defensis up and just blast away at the bad guys from miles away.

The T4 units, on the other hand, are generally countered by scouting (and bombing), not letting the enemy announce their presence. If they come in range of your defensive line, your defenses are gonna get hurt, and bad. Unless its one of the sucky T4's, like the soul reaper
End of quote

No idea if this kind of thing still works, but back in the day I recall a mate of mine - who was pretty heavily into the supcom 1v1 ladder - relating someone's tactic of rush building a soul reaper at the expense of everything else, then setting it loose on the enemy commander. :)

I might have to check out forged alliance sometime, my mate tells me that it fixes a lot of the brokenness.

The point is that you cannot build a superweapon unless the enemy is incapable of stopping you. If someone starts building one, build a couple long range missles, move your bombardment capital ship, and blow it to bits. If your opponent tried to build one as a last resort, then he will just waste his money; he probably cannot afford defenses afterwards. Also, even if you start to lose a battle and have to do something like armistice + retreat, if you a) destroyed enemy ships equally b) lowered enemy planetary population, then you succeeded because now you have more credits and (if you managed to take out extractors) more metal/crystal. The point is that this is a game of resources. Take out your enemies while protecting your own. Don't bother with a superweapon unless you can afford to waste your time building one to minimize fleet losses. It should never be used as the front of an assault. Be more aggressive!

And, of course, firing between systems has its disadvantages. I fired a whole volley at another system in a single player 10 player map. I got really worried later when some of my planets kept blowing up, and invested in planetary shields, until I realized that I was just getting a backlog of my own novalith cannon fires which I had forgotten about due to them being fired half an hour ago, when I was starting to colonize those worlds. :)

Anyway, I don't want to see it removed, or even nerfed. As the person above me said, their damn hard to get, and by that time, unless you're on a ten player map thats gotten down to 1v1, you're unstoppable. And firing the novalith cannon gives you a stange satisfaction. But not in public. People tend to be afraid of maniacal laughter.
