Repair Facility not Repairing?

I built a repair facility but it refuses to repair (auto or manually) my damaged capital ship. Both hull and shields are damaged on it, and it is within range. GRr!

Is it out of antimatter?

Hmm, that might be it. Didn't realize they used antimatter. Do they start with antimatter when first built? It was fresh and never used.

At the very least, write "out of antimatter" on the screen when you try to activate it, or grey out the button if not enough antimatter is available.

it needs a better repair animation!

Figured out the problem: It did have antimatter, but my ships were too far away. When you click on the graphic, the grid pattern that appears makes it seem that any ship in the gravity well is within range. Perhaps make an area of effect circle?

yeah the repair zone of influence only shows when u build it..... it needs to show whenever u click on the repair yard...

click the alt key when selected

Pressing ALT is the universal way of showing ranges among other pertinent tactical information in Sins(weapons, repairing etc).

OMG and there are 2 ALT keys on my keyboard!!!

I think the confusion comes because, when you click on the structure, it overlays the tactical grid around your planet. It's easy to mistake this for a range circle. :/

I figure instead of starting a NEW topic, I'll just run off this one.

I see the repair facility repairing, BUT , what is it repairing?

I just suffered a mild Pirate attack, 2 gauss cannons, a few cobalts and my KOL all have minor damage, I see the sparks flying from the repair yard, but which ship/structure is it fixing?

Maybe there could be little repair bots that fly from the yard to the structure under repair.

Or maybe they are all getting repaired at the same time ? It's very hard to tell....

I'll second the very hard to tell thing, but taking into account that most of the animations (or lack thereof) are placeholders, I expect that eventually we'll see what it's repairing.. even if nothing flashy, a targeting line to the ship/structure it's fixing (like the targeting line when ships attack) would do okay, assuming nobody's lazy enough to mouse over the repair station.

Where do i find all these little bits of important information like Alt showing the ranges for things? I assume its somewhere no one looks like the tutorials? or is it a IC secret that allows them to dominate the online experience?

Basically you just have to read the forums to pick up the little details, they're not really documented anywhere

That, or press random keys on the keyboard and see what happens.

The forums... and experimentation...

I've been pressing for a "manual thread" of some kind, but I'm just too lazy to do it myself. Especially since I don't have the "authority" that'd be needed to go back and edit the main post as needed to keep it current.

I knew the edit button was there, I didn't know you could edit it after replies, lol.

OK, I guess I just talked myself into some work. Edit: Assuming the devs give permission for me to take that role upon myself, anyway. I'm going to assume the above constitute tacit permission to do so until further notice.

I don't think anyone would complain about making some unofficial documentation for new players.

You should see the admin's in some of the forums I've attended, then
