Pirates Hideout Taken by Society Influence

I was playing a small map earlier today and after I conquered about 1/2 the solar system and my Broadcast stations had spread almost everywhere. I realized that I took over the Pirate Hideout with my society influence. This is stupid and should not be able to happen. Pirates are not like regular populations and I dont think they would be influenced by regular society.

Also once I did take it, there was about 15 Pirate ships around the hideout that I now controlled, but non of them attacked it. They just hung out around the planet. They should at least attack the hideout if its taken in this way.

Were any of them pillagers? Otherwise, they can't attack the planet, most ships don't have bombardment capability.

You know i dont get why they would want to destroy it though. They dont have any colony frigets so once it is destroyed then there goes them anyways.

Yeah, that's what happened to me, but they did have pillagers. The 3.5/sec was nice for the brief time I had the asteroid.

I agree that this should generally not happen, although I do think the pirates should make reclaim-runs on their base periodically if they lose it.

I have not played enough to see the effects of society influence, but it would be interesting if a society that was discontent long enough would spawn pirates/rebels or the like.

I think its pretty funny that you can take over the pirates asteriod but not any other asteroids that just have a local militia

that would mush the beginning of the game.

however if your area is intruded by enough culture, your planets WILL turn to that of your enemy, so beware.

You could just research the TL 15 incursion/insurgency miltary tech and laugh away. The AI gets slaughtered by them, havent heard anything about it in MP games thou. IMO it seems way to OP against the AI right now. ive seen an AI with 1/2 the map die soon after me researching that tech.

yeah, I know necromancy. I had this (pirate base taken by culture) continually happening and I can't say I like it. what is the motivation behind making it possible? granted in midgame pirates are not much of an issue currently, but I still think that if you want to take their base (and get some reward for it), you should still have to fight for it. or have the remaining pirate defenders go on a suicide run against those who took their base. just anything, but degenerating them into sitting ducks.

maybe make influence on pirates not have you take over their base , but rather have then never want to attack you ? and have them share a part of the bounty they receive for killing the enemy?

or when you take the pirate base you take over the surounding pirate ships
