Announcements

I dont know if its always been like this, (I havent played beta 1 or 2) but I find the announcements during the game more annoying than helpful. I always look up when my tech officer says "enemy forces inbound" and find out its just a scout. (Then the one time I didnt look figuring it would be just another scout I ended up losing a planet to an invasion force)

I was thinking maybe there could be two diffrent announcements for scouts and real enemies, ie, "Enemy scout inbound". And as for the "impending pirate raid" notices, It would be nice if I only heard them when they were coming for me and not every other empire in the galaxy. I normaly have to leave a scout at the star so I can see which way they are going.

100% agreed!

a quick look at the bounty screen will tell you that faster. they always go for the head with the highest price on it.

They announcement will get better, right now they are very generalized and clumped together, cause all the sound files and programing for individual scenarios aren't in yet.

I hope so, I know its a beta and as such its unfinished but I just wondered if anyone else felt the same way.

Oh I definetly agree, the first time I heard the Pirate Alarm thing I thought my computer encountered somekind of error. Freaked me out for a few minutes, didn't help at all, cuase *gasp* I can read without annoying noises.

The Pirates tell you who they are going to attack if you click on the notice it gives you when they depart, it will pop up on the right with Pirates are headed towards xxx territory or something like that, but you can't just hover over the news you have to click on it. Otherwise the damn scouts are a pain in the ass, but I have sorta gotten used to them a bit, though I still more often than not look to see who is coming down the pipe at my planet.

agreed, the game needs some message filtering options so you can decide what level of messaging you want. Something with several degrees, like None (No Audio Messages), Low (Only 'important' messages specific to your empire), Medium (Important messages regarding myself and allies) High (All messages). Something like that but more refined hopefully.

Messages I'd classify as unimportant are:

- Any message triggered by a scout ship
- Changes in bounty on other empires

Theres probably others, but I can't think of them right now.

Changes in bounty on other empires

I actually like seeing this, as long as it stays text-only on the bottom of the screen like it currently does, I really don't need/want a sound effect and voice message for it or anything, but it saves me the trouble of looking at the diplomacy screen each time a pirate raid happens to see if I have the most bounty or not. Seeing those change notices gives you an idea already, as long as you remember

I would add to the unimportant messages:

- Alarm when pirates are launching an attack against an opponent of yours. If you want to know, use a scout frigate.
