Planetary Shield generators and Allegiance

Idea

Having played a nice game through all the tech recently i had an idea:

Shouldn´t planetary shield gens positively influence the colonies allegiance behind it?
Another 10% would be nice if you invest in this expensive technology.
This is only logical in my eyes since the people now feel much more protected by your empire and are thus more loyal to it.
Its a very late game tech so it wouldn´t change the midgame, only help the empires in their late bloated form with allegiance spread thin through many jumps from the capitol.

This way not only your border colonies could benefit from this tech, but also the people in those faraway places that are scared of pirates or the space flu.
Costs for the Gen or the research could of course be adjusted if necessary.

So, what do you think?
Yeay or nay?

I sort of like this idea, could also work with capital ships, or all ships as well...

Ifthere are combat ships in your system much less capital ships, jewels of the empires navy, im sure the system would feel some love lol

I like both ideas! Though much better than before, allegiance is still broken IMHO. The current system was devised with regional capitols in mind, which were taken out of the game. While decreasing loyalty with distance appears logical at first glance, i don't think it really is to the degree currently implemented. I think the minimal allegiance by distance should be closer to 50%, not 10%. Other factors are just as important as distance, like culture (which we have, but does too little), and perhaps a bonus that increases over time, as people are getting used to their place in the empire, etc.

The problem with making it with ships aswell is (although i would like the idea) that for example fleet supply and such a coupled with the allegiance.
That way you could fly to a faraway world, max allegiance build ships for the supply and when you leave it would jump in the negative (happened to me when loosing culture).
Also tracking such a thing with every ship would require a huge buffering of values and recalculating.
It hink with capships hapering the enemy culture spread this is already implemented to a good degree. seeing how fast frigates and cruisers blow up they shouldn´t really have an impact.
Caps already do and its ok.
As for a planetary installation that is there to stay its easy to assign a value

I'm in support of the original post, but I agree with Pithlit that ships shouldn't touch allegiance at all.

Another 10% allegiance from Planetary Shields would allow a very far away colony to have 35% allegiance. That's not too bad, even in porcupine terms!

i agree that allegiances need to be re-looked at and im sure the devs will befor release. I LIKE the idea of the shild gen helping allegiance though... makes sence and i think it would be an impressive little detail for new players to discover and think to them selves... "wow they really put some thought into this game" wich gets you more money, us more noobs to kill online, and all of us more updates and possibly a bigger budget for an expansion!!! its a win-win-win in my oppion...
