Small Complaint

Alright I started a new game after I updated. It was on a random-huge map with 4 A.I. players and myself. I chose a small number a players because I wanted them to be spread out and have a better start for everyone, so they don't have to compete with other players. When I got into the game I started exploring, and to my overwhelming anger found that all 4 other players were in the same system as myself.

So I'm proposing something be done about this. I'd like to see a system where I can choose whether there are other players in my solar system, especially in larger maps. I just don't want to have six stars and six players, and have all the players in one star system while the others are uninhabited. I kind of defeats the perpose of having six stars. If anyone has any other seggestions I'd like to hear them, thank you.

That was actually a design choice on the developers part -- they thought it would be boring to play if you have no one else in the same starting system.

I agree with OP. I think there should be options to distribute players how you want ,and default setting should have distribution completely random.

I agree with Op,its one of my pet peeves about random big maps, i wanted to have BIG fights with REAL solar empires, not a bunch of small sides bickering over one system then moving onto the other 4 empty systems..?

well, an option for distributing players would be nice, but I kind of agree, because in such large games it could take well over an hour before action really starts. it doesn't have to be bad, but I dont think it will be as interesting or as fun, as one might think beforehand. but alas, there are times when such a gametype is exactly what I would want, so no reason to exclude it. the only important thing is it has to be equal. one player in a system and 3 in another is just creating biased conditions.

if thats a design attempt by the dev's then I am kind of angry, I thought it was just that the random map maker was currently FUBAR, and they said that too.

As a design Idea I frankly HATE HATE HATE it. Its silly your playing on a huge map for a reason... cramping them all into one system defeats the entire point of it. Just as well play on a medium map or even small, since you will likely just kill them off.

Frankly it will go FASTER since the AI will never leave the system but you will, thus more resources to you...and a HUGE game shouldn't be Faster than a small or medium!

I know i personally stopped playing the bigger maps in favor of one system but lots of planets because of this problem...

I also play on one star system only, for the above OP reasons. The multi-star empire systems seems to be 'broken' (fubar?) for gameplay.

One thing I like to see in some teamgames is your team starts in one system and the other team starts in another system. Not saying that I particulary want to use this online , but more so for LAN play or singleplayer.

In online however , I can see the merits of having 1 system completely populated and 1 or 2 unpopulated systems as human players will fight for the empty systems with equal desire.

i think the only AI i have EVER seen move to a new system was the pirates, i cant recall ever seeing anything else jump to the system i occupied after i got it...

untrue, they do seem to have some 'issues' every now and then, but i have had games where the AI spread out

That wasn't a design decision.

The effect should have been 2 players over a buncha systems, not everyone all in one.

Oh, and I have seen the AI go interstellar in the past. It just isn't very good at it.

I've never seen the AI go interstellar, this is definately an aspect that needs to be looked into.

Player distribution has been discussed before. Right now, there should be at least two opposing teams in each system (if there's an odd number, one will get three) if possible. If it's not doing that, you may have had the AIs teamed or there may be a bug.

I wouldn't be surprised if some more options such as player spread appear when the custom galaxy creation returns later.

Ron you stated that it was a design choice after he complained about ALL players in the same system...

This is much more clear of what you must have meant; but superficially it seems like a complete reverse. Felt like clearing up why I stated that "If IT (as in ALL players in a multi-star map were placed together on ONE star) was a design choice"

I have never seen the AI placed in a different system Kryo. I'll start some more games and see; but I doubt it will chaange.

Yeah, well, I slightly mis-read what he was saying. I was under the impression he wanted one star, one player.

Perhaps a toggle for max players per star system. That would be awesome...
Edit: Not a toggle a drop down thing, my bad
