And probably the only one of its kind to date!

A few things that come to my head thinking about it (in increasing importance):

DarthDiddler, Multianna, and myself were (very) badly placed by the map generator. Multi was easily isolated from her allies, while myself and Darth had to fight to decide who could receive support from our allies, and who would end up left to wither on the vine. Additionally, everyone started in one system which (effectively) made it a one star instead of multi-star game.

Darth lost his flagship early, but should not have quit. Had he stuck around, instead of the AI, he could have caused me massive headaches had I supported Multianna and Happy instead of protecting my own empire, and crushing his. Since he quit, I could effectively ignore his world until the situation was in hand on the other fronts. In team games, its actually possible to continue being a power after loosing your flagship, even in early game. This is a huge improvement over 1V1s and FFAs, where that is not the case.

Teamwork won this game for my side, and killed it for our opponents. My side co-operated, and worked together, and thats how we killed our opponents. Had our opponents co-operated -- P5y helping his allies out rather than "being bored" and quiting, putting unified, co-ordinated assaults against multiple targets, etc etc -- they could have killed us. The others could have "fed" DarthDiddler resources, making him a nasty thorn in my side even though he didn't have the worlds to provide him with much resources, while his allies could have stopped us from rolling down their worlds one by one with a "mega-fleet".

Don't quit like P5Y just because you didn't get your way (he wanted a smaller, single-system map), you might miss out on one heck of a game.

Edit:

Oh, and while I obviously can't be sure, I'm willing to bet that this was the very first game of its kind ever played in Sins -- a 4V4 over the internet, that is. The devs may have done stuff in house, but we're the first players to have done it.

And boy was it fun!

Yeah it was alot of fun

One moment that i felt especialy fun, was when poorman tried to attack a planet we just got from his ally. He fought against very badly odds but he continued to play until he dropped

heres a screeny from when he tried to fight

A little more of my sermon on teamwork, but even my side could have used a little work on it. Because we tried to keep each other aware, we did quite well, but we didn't do very well, especially at the beginning, of keeping everyone on our team aware of what we were planning. Additionally, we should have kept more chatter going on our status, as several times one person had excess resources while another was scrambling for them.

Very nice.

Good job guys

You know what would help with team coordination would be support for microphones. Will Sins have that in the final version (or does it already)?

This match was very fun for me, and I think would of been even more fun if the opponents didnt leave so early. As the game started I noticed I was in the best spot for my team and I decided to train all civic to help support the other 3 players. I wish the game other opponents would of stayed longer to see how well the strategy worked. also I wanted to say that the lag seemed no worst than in a 1v1 game on my end, and im not sure if some were actualy droped from the game or if they quit without telling us.

There is a team speak server available for Sins -- someone hosted it at their own expense from what I can tell.

THis is just a brag replay, nothin really epic about it and I cared pretty little.

I quit because I had command lag. Anything i pressed would only respond 5 seconds later , which sucks , thats why I said my game was gimped. When I quit it was already late into the game, the game was already 4v3 since Darth had quit very early , and poor and my other ally had no fleets so it was pretty much us waiting to die so I dont know why Ron is so sour at me.
ps - I manage to get another game later , before i had to go to sleep. A 1v1 with a our good quitter friend DarthDiddler. I trounced him and he quit when his caps died. irony

That was a fun game Managed to take out Giant's flagship but missed his little colony ship jumping in, so had to waste some time/resources getting Krosovs there to bombard since it's usually bad when an enemy team establishes a foothold right next to your Homeworld (especially with your only ally on that side an AI), but then Ron just had to jump in with his fleet and then I gambled badly on being able to take out his Sova, just didn't have enough Cobalts left over from the prior engagement

And then of course 3 capitals bombing my planet was fun, too We could've done much better if we didn't have 2 AIs already by the time major combat broke out, but alas.

And yeah, teamwork in team games = gold, since 2 combined fleets will almost always > 1 And when I went I fed our team's only remaining human (yay PoorMan) player all my resources!

Slacker. Although to be honest I logged on *just* in time for it. It was a tossup between a Sins game and more Hellgate: London betaing. Glad I picked Sins, though

Because you could still have made a nasty fight of it?

So what, you lost your fleets. Build new ones, and raid -- force us to "waste" resources on defenses. Build up intelligently placed defenses, which the AI can't do.

That's actually quite false

jeez im sorry you guys were thinking this game was suppose to be epic. Maybe I should have tried harder and I guess really im just regretting not taking the game seriously because if I did id probably would have led my team with better coordination and rushed/microed and all that jazz. As I was kinda peeved to start with , I did nothing but broadcast centres the whole game , so wooops maybe next time we should fire up another "epic" and ill play epic .

Not to nitpick, but being the only one who left without even 'losing' anything, the implication that you would've been a good 'leader' is quite farfetched The attitude just doesn't match that.

Hell, we didn't take it too seriously, we just joked about it when the AI that took over you decided to try to send ships to help my homeworld and you didn't. But considering we *all* did more than you in that game, you really shouldn't make claims like that

Man I am in the same boat. My new routine is go on sins and check if anyone is awake and ready to play. Wait 5 minutes and if nobody will play or is already in a game go play HG:L beta.

Im not beating on yah P5yy. If you didnt want to play it happens. just saying you didnt have to leave so early. heck I sat back as civil research feeding my team mates at the start because i was in the same spot you was in. it worked out just fine for me. in fact lets you build up without to much worry of the others beating on your planets it was quite fun. When I play sins I play to have fun and do my best, I dont expect to win. even if I was like poorman with 3 fleets on me I would be trying to make the best defense I could as a last stand for fun

well said Amanojyaku i have it the same way.
