Organizing another big game

Organizing another big game

So after that 4v4, I figured why not try and organize another big game

It's hard to predict how long it can last, so I wouldn't put the "You must stay until the end" condition on signing up, especially since it's during the week and people have to work and things. But the condition I will put is not to leave when your flagship gets destroyed early on. Otherwise, stay as long as you possibly can.

So with that said, I'm available during the week from about 5pm Central time (that's what, 11 pm GMT?).

If anyone's interested, post here along with your times so we can set something up. Maybe even tonight if we're lucky You folks who were in our last big game better sign up

Also, I can host fine if that's an issue for anyone.

We can try to get together Sunday and try out Ron's map Will see how it plays, always better than just how it looks

One of the Euro players name a time? Afternoonish, so us US folk can do it too since it'd be morning

Although I played from my GF's this last week, my connection at home also seems to have improved its stability lately. I'd like to try to join a big game, so about 1700 CET perhaps? That would be 1100 US/Eastern time.

Well it was a fun game for me at least. We were 2v2v2v2, but my teammate lagged and quit. Later when I hit Gauntlet he quit for some reason, he said something about being nice. As both Paradox and me thus lost our allies, we teamed up but were separated in different systems.

After we took care of the AIs, I had slightly less than half the system including the AI gauntlet's worlds while Raigo got my AI ally's worlds and had slightly more than half the system (unless he was tardy about colonizing the rest) I had 4 capitals while he had 3 plus another one separate from the others, but he never engaged me with anything of consequence while I trounced his planets up to the homeworld. He did however go on a similar rampage into my territory where Gauntlet had resided, but this took quite a while as I buffed the emergency infrastructure, leaving me lots of time to build a massive frigate fleet to ambush him as he returned.

Paradox on the other hand used a very resilient group of 3 Dunov capital ships, actually standing against the combined might of the three other players in that system. A really powerful group in the early game, so the Dunov should perhaps be modified to not be quite so effective at restoring shields of fellow Dunovs as other ships. There was lots of gnashing of teeth among his enemies at least, and they finally all quit after one homeworld died to the Dunovs, leaving him with two AIs. Those kept him really busy flying back and forth to fend off attacks, so he didn't really advance at all from his five worlds until I arrived from the other side of the galaxy after finishing off Raigo. So the Dunovs are practically invincible, but still are slow, and an effort with siege frigates running past them would undoubtedly have given him much grief.

dunovs arent practically invincible, the tec can counter them by massing frigs on one dunov, making it so only two are actually able to use their shield abilities. Also, you have the antimatter explosion tech that renders the dunov completely useless against anything. The vasari have a really good shield draining tech as well as phase missiles and most of their caps have abilities that do damage directly to hull rather than hitting shields. In essence, dunovs arent invincible, you just have to use the right formula

Well, they were in that game, although against fairly new players I think. I didn't follow the battle very precisely, but I know there were 3 people with their entire fleets (guessing about 100 fleet poinst each) against three Dunovs and nothing else (well, possibly some frigates, but less than 5 frigates at any given time). The Dunovs came out unscathed.

then learn how to target correctly

Yeah, that kind of sucked having my ally start at another star (and then get booted for some reason). Then the other 3 players around my star united against me?!?! What was up with that?

I managed to hold them off indefinitely until they started to quit when I would wipe out their flagships. But then the 3 (new) AI players focused on me exclusively. I just could not take another planet after that, having to run back and forth stopping them from taking me out.

Hehe, still, it was pretty impressive fighting 3 other players (each with about the same amount of fleet points) to a standstill.

does utterly obbliterating two other players of equal fleet points count?
