TEC Kel fighter/bomber bug?

Hey folks,

I just preordered with the release of Beta 4, and noticed a possible bug with Kels in my first game. I had a Kel as my flagship, and built another Kel after I'd added an Akkan. For some reason the figher/bomber button was grayed out on the second Kel (I couldn't build a wing). I built a third Kel to test it out, and it also had a grayed-out fighter/bomber button. Is this a problem with Kels, or maybe because my flagship was a Kel? Some variable not getting reset?

I built a second Akkan to see if it was a duplicate ship issue, but the fighter/bomber button worked fine, so it seems to be either a Kel or a flagship problem. Or does a Kel need to be a certain level (3?) before it gets a fighter or bomber wing? Th reason I ask is that the fighter/bomber buttons eventually unlocked on both of the new Kels, but I had leveled them up, built a bunch of other ships, and done some research in the meantime, so I wasn't sure what triggered it.

If it is a bug, I have a saved game I can send in where I have two Kels in a fleet, one with the grayed-out fighter/bomber button.

Welcome to sins

Its not a bug its intentional.

Capitol ships level up as they gain experience, or if you purchase levels. The Kol battleship cant use strike craft until it achieves level 3. It cant use some other ability's until level 6.

In a flagship game, the 1st capitol ship you build is free, and becomes your flagship. It starts out automatically at level 3. All new capitol ships built afterwards will start out at level 1. Give a quick run through the tutorials, and this will all be explained

Thanks, I thought they might need to be level 3 for strike craft, which is why I asked that very specific question in my post.

Yes, I did notice that your flagship, your free capital, starts at level 3, which is why I guessed that particular level requirement for Kol strike craft. I've done the tutorials, and I've just now checked them again to make sure, and all it says is that different capital types have different abilities, and that they'll all gain experience. What's misleading about the Kol/strike craft thing is that the other abilities tell you at what level you'll get them, while the strike craft just suddenly become available. I'm sure this stuff will be covered in the manual, but no, Kol mystery strike craft were not explained in the tutorial. I also noticed that Sowa carriers get an extra wing at either level 2 or 3, and Marzas don't get any craft at all, at least not up to level 3. Like I said, I'm sure that stuff will be in the manual, but there's no indication that it's going to happen in the game.

This isn't a slam on Sins, it's Beta after all, but giving a blanket "do the tutorials" response is more annoying than it is helpful is this particular situation. Bug or feature, there's no way to tell without in-game indicators.

Although I agree with you, you better get used to it. A lot of abilities (most of them actually) don't tell you what they really do or what an upgrade to them does.

Sadly.
