You're running one outdated system there..

I'd suggest running it in DX8 mode but I dunno if SoaSE even supports DX8.

And I haven't got a real 'blue screen' in years. If you're getting real blue-screen errors in XP, something is seriously wrong.

He can play sins with that system. I can and my system isnt really much better.
Maybe there is a problem with the memory management or driver Problem.
The Geforce should handle the game, but the rest... dunno

The problem is his Geforce 6200 -- I used to have that card, and its a piece of I don't know about the PCI-E and integrated versions, but the reason I used that card is because I only had PCI ports, and I discovered the hard way that it didn't work well. It will only accept certain drivers for gaming, and those drivers can't handle movies -- the computer would lag to a halt if you tried. If you get better drivers for movies, games are suddenly prone to (severe) errors, including frequent blue-screens. And if you try to run the most recent drivers... you get the whole shebang.

Yup, you need to lose that 6200. I am sure they still sell AGP gf-6600's-7xxx's cheap. I run sins on an AGP slot gf-6600gt with no issues.

You are running a p4 cpu so your MB should have at least an AGP slot on it. If it doesn't you may want to consider a new system.

Im sure having 2 different types of ram isn't helping matters much. I use only matched sets (which you can get cheaply).

Yeah, the loss of memory bandwidth would hurt him badly, I didn't catch that.

Of course nvidia does nothing, you bought the cheapest card ever and want a 2007 game to run on it. 6600GTs are about $40 on eBay, that is not an "arm and a leg" - don't exaggerate.

It can be, depending no his budget. If he only has, say, 5$ a week to throw around...

it also depends on WHOSE arm/ leg we are talking about, i mean, i wouldnt pay a thing for shoddy's leg, in fact, i might actually pay someone to keep it. On the other hand, i would give my left pancreas for yarley's arm

Ron, can you let me know which drivers you've used successfully with the 6200? My main computer isn't working right now (Wretched Asus, shipped me two bum motherboards in a row), and I'm stuck running a PC with a 6200 until who knows when. It's only got PCI slots, so I can't change the card. Any driver suggestions from anyone? The current drivers lock the game up in 1-10 minutes without fail.

No, I don't remember. I remember they were way out of date, and I had spotty success even then -- some things would run, others wouldn't. I think it was 184.something or other... (If the most recent drivers don't work, your in trouble :( )
