Pacifism FTW!

Single player game on Kronac's Cross. AI's all on hard, random faction. Started the game by building 3 Imperial labs (the civilian ones), researching the culture tech, and then building 2 Media Hubs. Upgraded logistics and scuttled my light factory to make room for them. Then I sat back and watched my culture take over the galaxy. Just built a few more media hubs when I could and some trade ports and upgraded my planets.

I never fired a single shot. Built no ships and the 3 that I started with never moved. Built no defensive structures of any kind.

Casualties: 2 construction frigs were killed at planets that I had taken over by culture and one asteroid received minor bombing before the faction that was bombing it was defeated when culture took their last planet.

I think that this is the fastest Sins game I have ever played. Took less than 45 minutes.

Pacifist...
KILL HIM
RAPE HIM
TEAR HIM APART

How did you get the planets right next to your HW?

Nice waqy, but only works in a FFA game, while your enemy fights each other.

doesnt work even then, since people will see it and either build culture to fight you or just team up and kill you

Yea, obviously it wouldn't work against any human with half a brain (so 100% effective vs aldarian )... though it might catch a planet or 2 off guard in the beginning. If I did more than just sit there I might be able to take advantage of that situation.

I just tried it because I feel that culture is a little too overpowered.

I didn't. They stayed uncolonized because I never made a move to colonize them and the AI's couldn't do it because by the time they got there my culture was too strong. 2 of the planets directly connected to the star stayed uncolonized as well.

maybe there needs to be some sort of AI code whereby they get more aggressive against you if their worlds are being culturised

Hmmm, but i could remember that sins should give even a peacefull player the opportunity to win.
Soooo, wining by only setting bountys on your opponents and spread culture, should be a alternative? or not...

As we mentioned in the initial change log, the AI improvements didn't make it in yet.     Good call though, the AI should definitely view culture as a threat and move to counter it (in one form or another).
