Please make possible to be observer and watch AI fight.

I understand that it may be not for everyone, but I often in an RTS game enjoy just watching AI fight with each other. Currently this game does not allow you to do it - you have to be present in the game as a participant. Can you please make it possible just to observer the game? I believe it is very easy change, yet so much joy to me

Observers are a function that has yet to be implemented, but the devs have talked about it and it should be coming, eventually.

Of course, doing what you want with the AI in its current state... is not a good idea.

I know this is not the same, but you can watch replays after the game is over. That is if you are trying to see what the AI does during a fight.

I do the same thing with Dawn of War, and Supreme Commander. Set some AI's after each other, and grab the popcorn.

Of cause, good AI is important. I just hope that they will not make this game online only oriented.

Same here, I love watching AI's battle it out, no matter what type of game (FPS, RTS, strategy), although sometimes I like watching from the sidelines but influencing battles in one way or another.

With all the new AI post's, debating, and AI improvement input. I think it is pretty safe to say that most people want a good single player experience as well as multiplayer.

What can i say?.. People like to watch

take a current map, add one star system | planet that is not connected to others, place human player into that star system | planet, run game in background or when your not using cpu (asleep / at work).
stop game after x time (the a.i's might not kill each other in over a day, seriously) and view replay.

problems that might occur:
computers allie with each other (use locked teams to avoid).
computers never kill each other.

That would require editor. It is much easier to just let humans to observe the game than making the editor.

It hardly requires an editor to add the planet -- people are making them already. Its time consuming, but to add one planet is the work (literally) of seconds.

I never stated that this would be the only option in the long run, I just said that as a short term solution that can be done atm.

I am sorry, but the average user will not go and edit file (I am not sure if it is even text file, probably not). So, this is not an option for the most gamers, me including.

Read above about being a work-around for the current version. Hopefully the devs will add that functionality, eventually... Edit: And while its not labled a .txt file, it is a editable by notepad, easily.
