Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

Youch! Did I break the MV this weekend? lol.

BTW I wish to dispell any rumors you may have heard about me leg-humping this weekend.I JUST dismembered that leg and I got an itch.

Youch! Did I break the MV this weekend? lol.

I didnt hear any rumors, I just assumed that was a normal weekend activity for you.

Nice run with the ZYWs! Although I think Neilo holds the record for most games in the shortest period of time with his Centurion Neilo character.

Hey, all...looks like I'm just gonna have to make a new character and sign him up in the empire. Support seems unwilling to fix this problem and get my character back. Argh. So, I'll be back soon to get us some points on the boards.

That really blows.  :(  Is it that they just cant figure out what the problem is? Or they wont spend any time even trying to figure it out?

I did a load of dishes, filled the drain rack, ran a ZYW, did a load of dishes, filled the drain rack...etc If I wasn't doing some things around the house I would have had more.

I have a few tings I wish to tweak with my pathing of the ZYW, then I'll work on some normal games. I think my next goal is the Racial Victory medal...

That really blows. Is it that they just cant figure out what the problem is? Or they wont spend any time even trying to figure it out?

~checks that leg he 'scratched' himself with this weekend~ Oh DRAT, it looks like I killed a dev this weekend...it's got a Stardock keyfab on it...

Started a non-ZYW game last night and I confirmed that the MCC is working per the description now. As soon as I hit the turn button after completing it, I had the 3 planets in my ZOC that were ready to flip....flip.

Fire up the Aul Incinerators...it's time for a party!!!

KP, um, wear this pokadot hat and dance over there, just in case the MCC has a glitch. We need to keep up the front that this is a playground. ;p

COME ONE COME ALL, THE FUNHOUSE AWAITS!!! ~cranks away at a music box with a monkey on his shoulder~

Happy? Me? How'd ya know?

The second one...for some reason, they send the problem over to TGN's support, and they basically didn't read my issue (they explained to me how to register the game *rolls eyes*) Now, they aren't even responding to the incident submission any more. I tried submitting a new one, but I didn't get even the automated response, so I'm wondering if they have blocked my email address.

All I have to say is that Stardock's support seems to have taken a giant shit on this one. I'm not sure if it's because they're now getting too big to have the level of support they used to, or if I just found my way in to the perfect storm of suck. I've had more problems in the last month than I have in the several years that i have been buying their products. I'm really hoping that it's just a combination of them being swamped, and me getting someone from their support team who isn't in the same league as the others.

This doesn't change the fact that I'm very dissatisfied and wondering if I'm going to buy anything in the future.

I'm thinking super-breeder evil Krynn - low tax for huge pop growth, build the big nasty 200% influence buildings, build the MCC... game over!  :HOT:

Good to hear the MCC is working like it was intended....that should make things a bit more interesting. :)

Haha... We'll have some Kzinrettis to lure people in...no sane being can resist their charms. ;)

The "sane" part excluded me.

Remember, this is the guy who blew up every star in the large galaxy, just to find out what would happen.

Not only is spending THAT much time running Terror Stars around a large galaxy insane, but the actual thought of 'hey, if every last being in the galaxy is destroyed...what happens?' is definitely off the sanity wagon.
So, you want to be an Isolationist...ToA B3

Wow...did you succeed in destroying everyone, including your own planets? What was the endgame result? I wouldnt call that insane, just obssessively curious. ;)

edit: Ah, noticed the link. I think you should get a special medal, hehe.

I did learn some other things in the next Beta patch and then tried it out. If you manage to win the game in a TS explosion that kills more than one civ at once (not including you obviously) you get a special TS victory screen.

I had too much fun with those lil' buggers during beta lol.

lol, victory through isolation. I like it.

More like victory through extermination and xenocide. I approve. :D

Hrm, in my current game I just had a light-bulb go off. Now, I know this isn't an aggressive strat per-se, but it's a nice trick that I've done to the AI too many times.

I was just getting ready to up my mil rating with some new ships when the Dregin declared war on me. 3 weeks after the declaration of war, my mil rating swamped theirs.

Now, on numerous other occasions, I've purposely stopped all my planets from producing an uber ship on it's final week. Then when an AI declares war for whatever reason (or I decide to go to war) I have an massively inflated military that wasn't costing me any maintenance all that while.

I guess there is plenty one can learn from the Killdeer bird huh?

Som Romulan wisdom drives home the point nicely:

"Misdirection is the key to survival. Never attack where your enemy defends, never behave as your enemy expects, and never reveal your true strength. If knowledge is power, then to be unknown is to be unconquerable." -Romulan Star Empire, from Birth of the Federation

But my preferred strategy is to always have the highest military rating, so I decide when to go to war.

I follow the Romulan sage advice dearly; as can be seen in my first attempt at a Giga All on Suicidal...sure, I only have five (yes five!) planets while the rest of the galaxy is covered by my eventual vassals; but soon, very very soon, all will crumble and fall before the incredible might of the Krynn Consulate. (No ARC used either)

I had that, but then I did some focusing on my social aspect and research (damn frogs play with sticks & charcoal in TA) to make sure I don't fall behind the curve there. In that time, the Dregin and Yor slingshotted past me due to their wars that some green person ~coughs~ set them to do.

So their increased mil rating was due to me paying them to go to war w/ the Alterians, my mis-reported mil rating was also my doing in winding up, so inadvertently I was the puppet master of this whole situation. OK I feel better now about it.

I also like the upper hand to make people shut their traps...but at times (especially early on) things change in a matter of a month.

BTW, my last game as the Yor & using the fixed MCC for the first time. Damn that is a great tool for war. I only took about 1/2 of the Torian & Dregin worlds in that game by force. DURING my invasion stage I had planets flipping to me left and right. Dumb frogs kept thinking they were winning the war due to having the better navy in ALL aspects (numbers, size, power) but they weren't noticing people defecting to the mechanized beast that was I.

Nicely done Loupdinour. :) I'm really looking forward to my first game with the fixed MCC!

Using the Great Galactic Swindle strategy Silver? ;) I started fiddling around with that recently.

I also started looking at the Great Galactic Swindle strategy, after you pointed the way over at the core, KP. I picked up with a medium game I was playing with the Arceans before MVL round 9, and I'm trying to convert it over to that strategy now. Once I finish that game, I'm going to go for a Giga Human game patterned after Mumble's strategy more from the start. My goal is to get the racial medal and break into the top 100 with my main character eventually. The Great Galactic Swindle strategy looks to be perfectly suited to the Human's Super Diplomat ability.

I've come to the conclusion that I really HATE the Torian tech tree. Stunted research capabilities really hurt them as soon as it's military time...

Sadly, the Super Dominator Corvettes are kicking my arse right now since A) I picked all sorts of +weapons and +hp bonuses for the Dregin and B) I can't out-tech the Dregin's other ships since my research sucks...

It's been an exciting war though. My planetary output for ships is just BARELY enough to stave the Dregin flood. 2 thumbs up for difficulty of game and excitement that has been missing in the past.

*edit
hrm, HATE is a strong word. Perhaps, "I dislike how it is due to my playstyle and personal opinions. The Torian tech tree has it's uses, they just don't currently fit my needs in this situation".

Cuz, c'mon a +3 farm right from the start and eventually a +50% morale building that can be built multiple times on a planet...what's to hate there? I actually have a 22b pop planet that is HAPPY due to having 2 morale tiles on there. Sick...I know!!!

It's great to have some other predators in the Empire. A force with both Kzinti and Lutarines is fearsome indeed! The galaxy better beware...

... dogs and cats working together?! this is a remarkable event in the history of the universe. we should explore this science.

What doesn't kill frogs? Flies

Your forgetting... EVERFLY! he stood on plenty while protecting people from evil. Superfly went like a speeding bullet through quiet a few himself.

lets face it. life for a frog sux. bottem of the food chain and as a french main course they are especially nice with sauce.:d

True, and even without Super Diplomat, the strategy is VERY effective. Ragnar, I'm sure you'll make it to the top 100, so maybe you should shoot even higher? Top 25 perhaps? :)

For those who dont know what the Swindle is, you can check it out here How's This for a Home Planet, if you have registered at the Galactic Core Forums. Registering is free, and there is a good amount of GalCiv2 content.

A very short description is that to begin the game you research almost exclusively techs that give you diplomatic bonuses and wonders, declare war on everyone, and then swindle all/most of their planets away from them in lop-sided peace deals.

What difficulty level is that game on Loupdinour? Good to see the AI putting up some tenacious resistance! ;)
