ok, whens the patch?

Cool! Ill try it out later tonight, since it sounds like it is mod-unfriendly, I will use to plot out maps, but then just alter the .galaxy file manually. Awesome work.

Might I suggest talking to Multi to see if you can get this on his site? And I'm willing to bet that other websites will support it -- one more friendly to end-users than those two.

Oh absolutely ill make a section right away called tools

The only DIRE issue I have is the inabillity to remove planets from the editor... Or open an existing map... from my testing it also seems as if the compiler sometimes creates new phase lanes? Could just be me being sloppy.

I'll keep testing- Its definitely a time saver though... A grid image for the background would also be nice.

the remove planet thing I removed , because it caused a bug. Its not the best solution. Ill try and find a way around it for the next update. The annoying problem was that planetindex just lists planets from top to bottom rather then specify the actual id of the planet. Annoying!!!.

the extra phaselane ive noticed happening to me once. It must be because theres something in the interface that makes it easy to accidently mess up. Can I ask , when you did this , did you use the Delete all phaselanes at any point?

A grid image is one of a hundred suggestions ive predicted. will be included with as many suggestions as I can bother to do. Probably not many , but grid is high on the list.

tnx for feedbck

ok in next update the following will be included

- Last Planet UNDO
- Last Phase UNDO
- Last Sun UNDO
- Grid Line Activate

- Planet Identifiers Activate - adding this so that on the mapmaker you can identify which planet is planet0 , planet1 etc. Next Test your map in Sins whilst keeping your editor OPEN. Then you can see which phaseconnection needs deleting.

cAn someone please test why extra phaselanes appear.

I never used the 'delete' all phase lanes. So it cannot be that (or more than one issue causes it.) My guess is that I accidentally started a lane, but pressed K before assiging L. Or accidentally assigned a lane to its own origin.

OH and the ability to have things 'stick' to grid points would be nice for accuracy's sake. Though not terribly required.

Ok Ive done a new version for the Editor. This will probably be the last I do.

It now includes being able to reset or delete any phaselane or planet and you can set Labels to show which planet is Planet0 , Planet1 , and the order of phaselanes.

Ive changed the phasemaking slighty too.

Funny Bug

Your editor doesn't label the component ships for HW as 'Phase' for Vasari!

I love this map editor, it is the easist map editor I have ever seen.

but, I have a few questsons, your probaly going to roll your eyes and say "noob," but nonetheless I still have them.

What is “Flag true” button do?
Is The pyramid button is number of artifacts?
What is the planet with the bug thing on it?
What does the “Values” button do?
What is the weird pyramid/scale like planet?
What is the pyramid/scale planet when it has that green thing on it?
What is the black planet with the question mark?
What is the black nebula with the question mark and the “n?”
What is the multicolored planet?
What is the multicolored planet without the blue?

And lastly, I made a map, it had a pirate planet connected to the sun, but the pirates never attacked, and ideas why?

Thanks

How do you set homeworlds! It says M and click but that doesn't do anything

Flag True = Flagship True or False. i.e do you have a starting flagship
Pyramid = number of artifacts. You can edit this in the .galaxy file if you want more then 20
The planet with yellow thing is Planet Bonus Count.

Just to list the catogeries...

Type 1
yellow is desert , bluishwhite is artic , red is volcanic , bluegreen is terran
Type 2
the 4 asteroid one is planet asteroid , the single asteroid = dead asteroid , the ring = asteroid belt , the Questionmark asteroid = Random - planet ast, dead ast or ast belt
Type 3
G = Gas Giant , Pink / purple = Magcloud /electric storm , green = pirates

Type 4
The Grey Circle with Weights = WeightedRandomPlanet - so any randomplanet but weighted
The Green Circle with Flag + weight = Weighted Colonisable Random Planet
The Grey Circle on its own = Completely Random , no weighting
The Purple with Blue questionmark = Neutral Random planet such as a nebula or gas giant

Type 5
The Circle with 4 Colours = Fire, Ice ,terran or desert ; randomised
Circle with 3 colours = Fire Terran or desert ; randomised

And lastly, I made a map, it had a pirate planet connected to the sun, but the pirates never attacked, and ideas why?

possibly a bug. Check the galaxy file and compare it with an official galaxy file to see if theres any difference and manually change stuff in text.

How do you set homeworlds! It says M and click but that doesn't do anything
End of quote

M-clk = Middle mouse button click.cycle through ( 0 - 9 ). 0 = player 1 ,1 = player 2 etc..Also dont delete a planet which is a HW. It messes things up.

and just lastly a horrid bug ,if you have two phaselanes that cross paths and their delete buttons overlap.. if you need to delete them , you will delete two phaselanes and this unfortunately messes things up so you have start again...

and just last mention. "A" button deletes Sun.

lol ya I realised M meant middle shortly after posting. Thanks!

awsome, thanks.

I have some realy good ideas for some maps
Reply #18 Top
To get the pirates working you need to open your map in notepad, and find the planet that is flagged as type "piratebase" Then change the isPiratePlanet FALSE to TRUE. Example:

designName "Planet0"
inGameName "Yarr!! Mo Fo!"
type "PirateBase"
pos [ 72 , 80 ]
playerId -1
isHomePlanet FALSE
isPiratePlanet TRUE <----Make sure that is set to TRUE.

This should get the pirate raids going in your maps.

Just another bug

The non-ice planet one - can include asteroids planets

And the 4 colour one also can include asteroids.

IF you want something like kronocs crosses middle planets you will need to use the Green weight flag icon.

Wow... this brings back me back to my gamemaker days...

just a bug, you mess up if you start deleting planets whilst you are making phaselanes.

follow the instructions stepwise. Otherwise you may get phaselanes going off to wrong planets.

Ive identified the bug

when you delete planets , the id variable of all planets change

however the phaselanes have two stored id variables of the planets they are suppose to connect to that dont change when you delete a planet. Thus you get messed up phaselane connections.

Will I fix this? no ...just follow the instructions stepwise and dont delete planets after making phaselanes.

basically , not worth doing ,weighing up with the fact the bugs arent stopping people making maps and the release of ICs editor coming soon.
What's the ICs editor? Is the the sins official editor?
