(Was)Disappointed (Please Read)

3D (z axis) yay!

A few months ago i became aware of this game and for the first time i have thought we might have a homeworld beater shining through the few space rts that have tried and failed to become a hit namely Nexus and Genesis Rising.

Both these games have incredable graphics and i really enjoyed playing nexus, these games failed for only one reason in my opinion, they lack the kind of movement/control that was avaliable in the HW series.

The simply stunning and simple 3D control (how can you find it hard to use) is the main reason behind the HW series sucess, if this game is to become as big or bigger than HW then a similar or basic 3D contol is need, NOT a bonus it would be a REQUIREMENT.

I would love this game to become a huge sucess, but at present i dont see this happening and if the HW3 rumors are true then i predict a vast amount of the SINs community would move to HW3.

No doubt some people will say that i am a HW fan boy / troll but this game looks incredable the storyline is interesting dont get me wrong im not slagging this game off and im not disputting that it will be a sucess i wish it will be bigger and better than HW ever was but without full 3D contol im am not sure.

Bear in mind that since my PC blew up i have yet to play this game and whatever this post brings please keep up the good work this game looks stunning i cant wait to get a new pc and play it.

click the move button (the green arrow) then press and hold the D key

That will allow you to move in fully 3D as in HomeWorld

Sins is a very different game from Homeworld. Sins is as much about empire management as it is about battles, and Homeworld is all about battles.

If you were expecting something Homeworld style, I am not surprised you are disappointed, but Sins never set out to mimic Homeworld, or really any other game out there.

It's unique, and it's very fun. The mechanics are different, and while there's already Z-axis movement, it just doesn't mean as much as in a game like Homeworld.

whats with all these people complaining about the Z-Axis and related features...IT'S THERE!!! Sorry to hear about your blown up PC though (:(

wait, you havent played the game and you're bashing it?

...

well ignoring that tiny little fact, if the 3-D is whats bugging you, you've missed the point of the game. yes I would love for them to make the 3-D system more easily accessable, but it certainly is not a game breaker

and if HW3 is truly coming out, then its coming out way later than february. not to mention the beta community is already locked into their purchase  ;p

Why on earth would we move from a 4X/RTS blend to a pure RTS (that probably won't be much good... most of the time first game is great; second good; from there it gets bad... only real variation is some games swap the first two). Sins is about macro level empire control, not boring (yes, boring!) micro control of fleets.

There is Z asix movement? Then i'll shut up then :CONGRAT:

I prefer a game that isnt all about fighting because games like that normally turn into click fests, one thing i wished HW had was bigger maps the maps in this game look unbelivably huge, i wanted huge space battles this looks like it will do so. Because i like HW doesn't mean i expect games to be eactly the same i just felt that games without Z axis movement would be a step in the wrong direction and as i was been naive and it does have this function then i expect i will prefer SINs to HW.

If there is one thing i dont like about HW it that i felt i was the only one that wanted to make a huge fleet which meant i generally got taken out by frigates and bombers lol now i really cannot wait for this game.

I apologize for my naivety, i saw another post bashing SINs about not having Z axis movement and thought i jump on the band waggon :d :NOTSURE:

yea, I loved HW too. Still do, I know how you feel.

Took me a long time to get past my obseve want for big fleets.

unfortinitly, now I want to play with the same tacts in sins as I did in HW. This game is no worse than HW. Possibly better (Though personly, I think Unlikly)

IT is still a very good game.

and yea, if HW 3 comes out, it probably wont be very good......

Unless they do it on the rumerd dust wars, and a realy smart person makes it (which I doubt) Then it would AWSOME!!

For old time sake I reinstalled Cataclysm after playing a few rounds of Sins. They do differ greatly but Sins is still an excellent game in its own right. Like someone said, empire management, more like a space version of civ 4 as compared to starcraft.

The fleet AI is begining to use the Z-axis on its own. With the new patch, and a hopefully updated fleet AI, I think the fleets will manage fairly well on their own.
