Research on the UI

OK, OK, I know, there's very little time left. Additionally, I have no idea how much of the UI is final, but I have just one thing that kind-of nags at me... here goes.
Ive found that once I have the resources available I like to open up the Tech tree and queue up as many techs as I can afford just to make sure I am always researching, but then later come back to the tree to check on thing, and have no Idea what is researching next, and in some cases have to search just to find what I'm researching now... No a huge issue, but IMO could be improved.
Now, I love the message windows in the lower left, and how just hovering on them gives you the info-card with all the messages for the last few minutes. Id like to see one more for research status. The window shows the icon for the tech you are currently researching, along with a % complete status bar. Then, by hovering over it, you get an info card with the next 5 techs in the queue, with their brief descriptions. Alternatively, you could just add the info-card and progress bar to the current research button.
This would make it measurably easier to keep track of research progress and current state. If I'm to late, so be it, just throwing ideas out.
