laser-rays like lighning

Hi!

I'm already enjoying the beta4, there are just 1 thing I'd like to see in the final version:

Maybe for the advent then?
I'd like to see laser rays that look not straight but like flashes/lightning.
What I mean can be nicely seen in Hegemonia (the solon weapons) or Babylon 5 (vorlon weapons).

It's just a very small detail but it would look really cool!

Thanks so far (I know there are a lot more important requests and fixes that need to be looked at right now),

On the other hand, is the playfield in Sins static? In other words, you can`t rotate the playfield can you? If not, we don`t really need a compass marker... just use left, right, up, and down(!).

Um, of course you can rotate the playfield... Don't even tell me you play with the default angle...

Okay, I won`t... because I haven`t played it, just an observer at the periphery of Multianna`s and the devs` gameplay videos. Grin. Wish I was playing it though.

Maybe by the time I get to play it my vitally necessary system upgrade will be complete; quite a welcome prospect for me and SoaSE.

wouldn't a space compass need 6 directions?

once you've nailed down 4 directions, the 5th and the 6th can be inferred easily.

thats why i asked for a ball type compass with a top, bottom, north, south, east and west.

also i was wondering if the vasari gateway will look like this in the final version.

not that it doesn't look nice but the ships dont actualy go through it (wich would cause problems in the pathfinding of the ships offcourse).

so as it works now i think it would look nicer if it was like a station emitting some beam at the phasing ships.

or not, just a diferent station cause the portal just looks so unused now.

or only allow civilian ships to actualy pass through the portal for the phaseshift and phase from that point. while all other ships still have to go to the outerend of the gravitywell for "precision" or something, that shouldn't be to hard to explain away.

just an idea...

and also will it ever be possible to board enemy ships and destroy or capture em?

and can u show the crew capacity for ships in the info?

just for detail.

No. Boarding isn't likely to happen.

and what about the gateway, i dont ask for screens, just yes or no kinda answer

thnx:)

I don't think crew size will make it into the Infocard, but it is listed in the manual for each ship. ;)

nice, its still cool to look at a capital ship knowing there's like 6000 crew aboard.

Wow guys, the already said no.

The compass.

I want it, and maybe they'll add it after release :P

Besides, yes its not going to happen for release but we can still argue the relative merits of adding it.

just ignore emp, he's a forum-roaming troll who's never had any good input to add to anything

:d :d :d

You've confused me with windex. Plus although some people might find a compass useful I have no real need for it now, or at least I dont see one.

Fine you want to argue.
I'll argue.

First off, if you cant coordinate attacks you must be mentally retared *looks at ron*. Yep thats just about right. Secondly(and probably more realistically) adding more to the user face right now would be a wastte of space and would just get in the way. If a compass will be added I would rather have it in the form of an overlay, that would be semi transparent and which you could call up by scrolling over a certain place in the Empire Tree.

Schem also brings up fantastic points about the fact that you cant just say, "You go for the guys at degree blah, or go east, i'll go west." You also need some kind of measure of distance.

All of this adds unnecessar complication, which of course someone of your mental calliber would immensily enjoy, but I think that the average player would not find real use for it.

and still i want a compass...

it'd be nice if it was in the info card...

so u could see them die in battle and stuff

im wondering if there will be binary systems.
as in systems with 2 suns, and can u jump to other systems from both suns creating a second entry point or a "backdoor" in the binary galaxy?

just six days, 23 hours and 6 minutes left...
come onnn......chommoooon........
Hmm, well I doubt if binary star systems are in the game right now (I have not heard anything about them), but perhaps some of the wormholes are interstellar. But that could be more of a "back flood gate" than a backdoor.
I figure it shouldnt have been to hard to put in.

Also it would force u to make seperate fleets, u'll always will be but within the system, as in once i own a whole system i only put ships at the sun as that is the entrance to "my system", with the second star this wouldn't work...u'd have to pick the star u jump to though, otherwise u dont know wich one u'll end up at.
