Corporations

Just a few ideas that might make the late game a little more interesting.

So I was playing sins a few days ago, and after I came to late-game, I realized that after you get all the research stations and technologies, and in a big game take over your system there is nothing left economical except for building more trade ports at other planets. After a certain point the expansion part of the game quietly slips away from your priorities. You have all the resources you need, and there is no more expansion to new planets, or even change in your own planets.

Now on to the real point.
In our world today, we see that corp. and companies are launching satellites into space, not just the government. In this late period, would it be any different? There eventually would be a point where the nation would have to take total control of space, but could there not be the chance for independent organizations within the nation to grow? This Idea might coincide with the automation options available with ships, except it would apply to planets and stations. This idea might kindav be like Sim-City, but what if you could rent out sectors of space, of a big enough size so it would hamper you to be fair, but that could be purchased by a Organization, which would kindav be like a mini-faction. In Sim-City, you put down squares for buildings, and then independent sources take control of them. This would enable more use of the space, because honestly in my major planets in my deep "safe" zones.

These corporations could maybe build shipyards using the space provided, or even independent trade ports, which would have some kindav bonus for them if you are trading with them. I really dont see how else they could be affected, but any ideas on this concept?

So what? Its an interesting idea, and not without merit even considering the circumstances. Just because it more than likely wont get in at release is not cause enough to stop any discussion of the idea in its tracks. I'm willing to bet that there will be expansions to the game... everyone seriously has to stop hitting people with that first thing whenever people have an idea. It inspires the rising of much angers inside me...

Why? We need to focus on getting the game up to release--after that is when we worry about after that :D

While I appreciate the creativity, this idea really doesn't fit into Sins at all.

I doubt anyones ideas take much focus at all from that. It does get other people thinking regardless of how well it applies to sins... an idea could be modified into a concept that does fit. Discouraging people from talking about their ideas is just a bad idea in most instances. Why can't you see that?

Because I'm not discouraging them from talking about their ideas :P

Just letting them know its way to late to add anything.

Any idea now , is not too late for Mods or expansions.

Infact many ideas that came out too late for Supreme Commanders Release ,have indirectly inspired features in Forged Alliance , its expansion pack.

OK, its too late to add anything to release :P

Edit: Don't you think they'd be ticked if they spent their time working on cool ideas and actually spent effort on it... only to be told after weeks of discussion that the devs can't add it because it was too late from the get go?

Yes, I know its too late to add anything for the real game, but if there is a chance for an expansion, there usually is some new game mechanic that they put in to make it a real idea.

So please don't shoot me down that fast. (:(

wasn't trying, sorry of thats what it came across as. A similar idea was brought up and no one reponded. There wasn't much interest in satlite systems, and to an extent exploring your planets usually give you a bonus. Stuff like metal minning, crystal mining, building cost, and bombbardment infustructure can be enhanced depending on discoveries. ;p
