Moving planets

I was floating around the internet and ran into a game that had planets orbiting a sun in it's solar system. I thought this was cool and was wondering if it would work in a game like this. It would complicate things but would keep people on there toes. I know this would never make it in to this version of the game but to have constantly changing trade lanes might be interesting. I found a post on this form before I started playing the game but it wasn’t very informative. If I missed a thread about this sorry.

It was in the game at one point, but apparently it made the game too much fun, or something like that... and it was removed... (or maybe it was too hard to keep track of planets , i forget).

it makes me sad...

:SNIFF!:

I think it was along the lines that "making ships move with the grav well was impossible" or somesuch nonsense.

Devs originally had orbiting planets, but it was cut as being unfun -- as has been pointed out, keeping track of planets inside a constantly shifting "terrain" would be difficult and confusing at best, possibly impossible.

Its still there I bet, you just have to play a full 365 day game to see the planets move around the stars.

it might work if the planets rotated slowly. though you guys give very good points and i can understand why it was scraped. it might work if there was a camera lock on the planet that you are viewing then useing the side navigation window to move to the next planet there would be more keys to push be able to do something simple. i think it would be cool if you just had the option to play rotateing planets or not. proibly best for single player.
