Have you devs ever considered?

Sorry if it was asked, just looking around havn't seen it

If this is a great hit, (Which I think it will be) have you guys ever considered maybe taking this format to a constant online world? Not an MMO because it would be no way an MMO, but a system of maps that could be played and while the player was gone others in his faction could take over or maybe AI that would defend accordingly, but you wouldn't have offensive till you logged on.

I can see the issues of people who play more, but then again if you own just a tibit of a galaxy, it would then do you more to work with others etc. Eh, I know it would be allot of work, but I could see that being the next step :)

I have seen other games that have come out attempting to do so, all of them did poor thou, bad designs/graphics etc had allot to do with it, but nothing exactly like this thou. Some would say EVE, but na EVE is single ship MMO type stuff, I am thinking this game on a persistence universe :O

Igw multiplayer system.

Host and join on particular stars as certain races. IF you win , that star moves alignment slightly. Fully aligned stars to a race will make adjacent stars contested thus other stars will now be able to be played on. Thus map variety.

Players must choose a certain race and this stays with that account. They can have an account for each race tho. When they win a Igw game on a star , they gain rank points.

The star system is split evenly between advent , tec and vasari. At the borders between their races the stars will have contested alignment. Pick any of these stars to host a game on and someone with an account using the other race can fight you on it to try and move its alignment.

moi? , nah I stole this from Total Annihiations highly successful Boneyards , and its spinoffs .. Pheonixworx and another one i forget..

Sounds good, mabye if it was done by empire instead of race? Like you start as one player but you can gain AI allies and humen allies. Clans would gain an advantige but if the galaxy was big enough their would be areas were one particular Clan or Empire dominated but it would be impossible to dominate the entire galaxy. Also mabye like random events? Say like the invasion of watever attacked the Vasari that forces empires to band to gether or be distroyed?

the Devs have clearly stated

"If it seems like a good idea, we may do it and may charge you for it. if it seems like a bad idea no, you cannot do it"

:P :P :P

Aye, some of you guys get it, others a bit off, but yea. The idea of a persistant universe to join on any given day would be a blast. Thought about that for years, I see other companies that have tried to some not so bad, but for some reason the most that have attempted this did it half as* and others did it with little thought it seems.

Instead of these companies that want to "break the mode" when it is not broken, they should (in this excample) not change what is not broken and just add to it :) Eh, it was a thought and a cool one at that.

Well , ok at least I think so :)

First people would have to BE online for stuff. No one is on anymore for games... you guys need to get on IRC or something.

Thats why their would be AI worlds and empires that would attack each other along with real players. Their would need to be some sort of tribute system and the AI charactors would need some sort relations tiers. The AI would buffer empires from one another so that powerful empires could not just destroy new players because it would not be worth it with the AI. Also there would need to be some sort of honor/prestige benifits; i.e. Massive Mullti-World Empire attacks Migitworld Inc. Massive Mullti-World Empire would of course destroy Migitworld Inc. If there was, however,a stystem were the Massive Multi-World Empire took relations penalties with their AI allies for annilating a Empire that was far beneath their beneath their martial and economic level. New, weak, empires would be placed in one area were they were about the same level as their opponets, both AI and players. They would grow in power and expaned out into the galaxy at large. When players were offline their planets would disapeer and would show up as blank Phase Lane locations.

I know but thats what i mean. How often would those phase lanes lead somewhere, and if you have a couple of planets whats to stop the Uber fleet of death from flying in and rolling over the little guy?

I like the idea though, its much easier to poke a hole in an idea then it is to create one so kudos. ;p
Reply #13 Top
Aye I get it , but the abuse of a system of shutting down lanes would be definitly there. Eh, sense there really is no offical subject on it, I will wait to hold my ideas. If the devs one day say, "hey guys, guess what we are doing!" then I will be all over with my suggestions on it :) hehe

Was a thought never the less, just was curious if they devs ever thought about it.

Your clan has ideas?

I thought free thought was disallowed unless ordered.

By shutting down Phase Lanes i ment that your planet would disapear but the lane would still be active. As for the Uber Fleet of Death their would be a fairly stiff relations penalty for annilating a smaller empire.

Must know what Stardock has in development. Please, take pity, just tell me the name!

Or go another route... a half MMO and half RTS.

You must pick a race and defend that race. Have 'unexpected' attacks from things, like Pirates taking a system, that everyone must work together on to defeat.

Just another idea!

Heh, as Great Emperor said, we do have an MMORTS in development called Society (http://www.societygame.com), however it won't be completed for several years yet.

Our next project is The Political Machine 2008 which is due out in a few months.
