No I think I pretty much agree with Spartan.

Although Generally I download the demo's rather then Torrent my way into testing games.... This is why Demo's need to be just that a demonstration of what we can expect from the full game. I'd rather have post release demo's that show a game off then a late beta code which can be unstable or poor performing.

At the end of the day, if I don't like it, I don't buy it, if their is no Demo, I will either torrent it, if I like it I generally go to the store the next week and buy it anyway, or I will buy it with a receipt and return it within 14 days, although a lot of games stores have stopped taking games back if they work. (Thats a statutory right bs, but another story).

The long and the short of it is, if publishers/developers produce great games, they have my 101% financial and moral backing..... If they released a half baked, and unpolished game likewise they receive no sympathy from me. I will always buy a game I like, just as I will always return/delete one that is poor.

I have pre-ordered this game electonically, and I'm impressed. Question if you aren't impressed, how do you return a digital download? An interesting question especially the way the games industry is going

EDIT: Actually Yarlen )correct me if I am wrong) but as far as I know there is no law/piracy in giving you're game or anything else for that matter as a gift to somebody else, therefore if he does borrow the game from a friend, as long as they don't have the software on both computers at the same time, it is completely legit. Of course I would have to question if they would do this, or if they would use it as a duplicate and hence illegally, but it is wrong to suggest that giving you're game to a friend to use is piracy, if this was the case, half my Christmas presents this year were illegal

I don't! No matter how hard you try to create a logical rationale for how it isn't stealing, the simple fact remains:

Game = product.
Downloading the game without paying = taking a product without paying = definition of stealing.

Doesn't get any clearer than that, however well you might be able to convince yourself you're not doing anything wrong.

Downloading, but buying it afterwards is borderline. You end up redeeming yourself, but you still stole it to begin with.

Publisher or not; I will purchase the game online anyway - living in the euro-zone makes buying via stardock central a real bargain at the moment. Everything is 50% cheaper as it used to be (and yes... there are some more people in Germany who are interested in sins)

However, here is my 2 cents on this...


Demo is must! You simply cant just sell your game these days... Showing few sscreens and often rendered animated teasers is utter BS if there is no demo attached to it...

Unfortunate fact about us gamers is that we live in weird world where it became perfectly normal to release unfinished and buggy products that are often simply unplayable...

For this situation i blame not developers but publishers for pushing dead liens...

Direct consequence of this is that gamer simply doesn't want to pay for something before he / she try it - hence the need for demo - IDEALLY few weeks before the release... If there is no demo many go for torrent option and if they fall in love with the game majority buys it anyway...

So its about fair play...

Gamers have been royally screwed by publishers numerous times so its gamers turn todo the same - thats how life is i believe...

Point of this post is that simple DEMO would stop many from going torrent way and that i dont support piracy as such but can understand certain type of gamer who brakes the low in order to try the product before he spends his hard earned cash

But i think demo should be released next week - tiny map - MP - even glue time bomb to it if it needs be...

But point is - ethically - it should be released before the game itself

BTW my dad got his credit card thingy today, with the list of things that has been bought with the credit card. he noticed the 'sins of a solar empire' in the list, and asked me about it....i told him it was a novel for english at school. then he said that it was software....nd i said that it came with some random learning program....it seemed to work, because he just ignored it (surprisingly not caring about the price ($114AU) or he just didnt see it). *phew* omfg thank god my dad works night shifts, and is too tired to worry about things...   

Devs, just so you know, im not normally a person to defy my parents, or steal for that matter, so stealing my dads credit card shows you how much i want this game... i am THAT desperate for it. again, gj with the game. cant wait until it arrives, im just gonna be traumatised for weeks to come after that.

I am not sure that IC/SD would condone theft of any sort (even if it's your mom and dad) but to be honest, most parents aren't completely unreasonable. Surely, if you needed to borrow a credit card from the 'rents to buy the game, things might have also gone smoothly if you'd ASKED them if you could work out a loan to pay back the money for the game. How you ask? Maybe through your allowance (if it applies to you), by doing extra chores around home for a while (I'm sure your folks would be overjoyed!), keeping up your grades at school, helping other siblings with homework or taking them to school, or whatever applies to your situation.

I dont think it's will be great sale in community of religion Gamers due to name of "Sins", why they called this game "Sins" sort like religion gamers looked down and not want to try game out, lucky I did pre-order, I knew it's based space, empire game, I dont play any beta due to Unable to get it, I think it's have to be tokeon, anyway Why called "Sins"???

I almost try to download free game when I'm very young but not anymore, it's because I'm so tired comapany dose not support and make buggie game and dose not fixed, I still buy game (even Simcity Societies!) because I loved God and do not want sin again him, though I'm sinnier, but try to do no more, with his help, of coures. Of couse company who wont fixed or patch up or even answer e-mail is stealing my money because dishonesty , though sometime they answer simple solve to problem again and again I has done before, I need new solve the problem, seem they dont understand or care. There is company do support sure as Bioware and egosoft (X-3 Reunion, at first it's very buggie but later everything lot better, almost free-bug), I dont know about stardock and Iron, though I did play Galactic Civilizations II - Gold Edition but I'm not very much enjoy this game, it's ok, not that great.

Us evil people call it sins. The normal people call it SoaSE. So the fundamentalists should be OK with it. One has to work the spin factor whenever presented with the opportunity and the title is a great one for that action. So spin is in for Sin! It is as the old saying goes...

Yes, I can trust you guys, I just has pre-order just before 3 or 4 day before, something I dont do that very often if I think company are good for word, but rare, many said on other forum many game come out, but to me only none or few good PC game come out during this early year and 2007 Dec to Sept. Hummm, I think I will play as The Advent, way Lore telling, it's look like The Advent is goodly-booth, thouht I could be wrong, Vasari Empire sin' is want control and power, while Trade Order sin is greedly and care about profit all over other. while The Advent' Sin is paid back time. I think Vasari Empire is heavy evil while Trade Order is middle evil or heavy evil as much Vasari Empire, The Advent maybe only little evil by paid back. I pick over The Advent    I think.
