Singleplayers vs Multiplayers

Singleplayers vs Multiplayers

I'm jut kinda curious as to how many people won't be playing multiplayer in SINS? As for myself, I'm not a multiplayer sort of person, I prefer playing alone (yeah, I'm a bit anti-social...) How many others will play strictly singleplayer?

Single player till I can beat the bots with ease. Then I will move onto MP and still play Single player as well.

I prefer cooperative play over competitive play. So multiplayer games consisting of me teamed with a friend or two versus a whole bunch of teamed AI on a nice steep difficulty setting would be my favorite choice.

Playing alone (singleplayer) would be second, and playing against others would be last.

I'll probably play almost entirely singleplayer. I generally don't venture out into the multiplayer of RTSes at all because I tend to be pretty slow (arthritis ftl). I may give it a whirl eventually, however, due to the structure of the game verse most other RTSes.

Hey you sound like me :)

I recently played some beta 3 with a friend of mine coop and we really enjoyed it. For me coop is nr1. Singleplayer nr2 and oh dear no way am i gonna dive in with the godlike uber clickers which makes my head hurts lol.

Really amazed with this game a sure buy for me.

this game has got nothing to do with uber-clickers. I believe my click count is ~8-25 at any given minute, and I'm just fine thank-you.

its based on strategy and resource allocation, not clickspeed.

Which makes it the best RTS ever.
Being slow doesn't matter much. Unless you're slow between the ears, that might be a problem.

I think like with most RTS that Iown it will be a 70/30 split in favor of SP.. Every once in awhile Ill go on line with whatever game Ive been playing and somtimes it will be just for one game, other times I crack out on the MP seen for a week or so, just depends on how well its done and how badly im getting whooped. Some RTS MP is very structured like, you have to know all the right build orders and map knowledge bla bla bla, like AOE3, if you dont spend time reading online about sucsefull strats, then practice aginst the AI you have no chance Online, others like WAr3 or UAW you can just jump in there and do what you do. Considering the time it takes to play sins Id say most of my online time will be with people I know, not just andom skirmishes..LAN will be HUGE as I have a roomate that also has a computer! (we are LAN gays, we LAN it up all the time..)

8? That made me smile. Playing 1v3 hard ai's I can assure you 8 would get you beaten. It pays off to micro your fleets while engaged to some degree. Clickspeed isnt as big as some rts I played but i wouldnt count it out either.

I can assure you, I can handle 5 AIs at a clickspeed of 3, it just depends on what point in the game I'm sitting around watching my empire

Schod <- very experienced player

I've done this before.

You can handle 8 AIs easily unless they all decide to attack you at once. Pretty much if you can survive the first 30 minutes (more or less the first battle for each AI), you're good :P

Did that once :o

although taht one requires slightly more clicking...

And possibly some restarts since even with some very good clicking if 4 of them decide to attack your little starting fleet at once you're kinda screwed :P Just pointing out that the AI is kind of a joke :)

I beliebe your claim was about a clickspeed of 8 in any given minute, not on average ;)

that to.

the most microintensive this game gets is in the first two minutes, when you send your frigs behind ships that are attacking it so that you dont lose a frig early on.

with his ego he can handle the AI with an avg of -4 and be at school

co-op fzw! AI doesnt cheat and doesnt say stuff like "i can beat u in 3 clicks and less" as if by doing so he is a semi-god.

put some AI a huge galaxy use the save button and have a nice game 4 a few weeks with friends chatting on haveing a nice relaxing game....

MP always gets ppl angry , causes alot of ego and alot of forum bashing "i beat u 3 times u suck bla bla bla "

look at WoW co-op vs the AI with 9 million accounts , enough said.

it can get boring at times... especially against a galaxy full of AI.

Schod ur my hero. You are the prime example why people rather play the AI then egos like you.

In a 1 v 3 (team hard AI) on a large map you WILL NOT be able to win with 3 clicks a minute. Sure the beginning you wont click much but once the AI get their stuff together lol you need to click rather much to keep your empire together and expand.

When I play against multiple AI players (which is what I usually do in a RTS) I often pick a mix of hard, medium, and easy AI. It gives the hard AI a few other weaklings to pick on aside from me.

Not sure how well this would work in Sins though. From the sounds of it the hard would pummel the easy, then easy would just offer to ally, and then they would come after me all together.

Would still buy me some time though.

I like to create a mix of AI levels and AI personalities when there are multiple in a game. You are right, a hard AI may get to the weaker one before you do, but the race can be half the run!  And if you're not one for speed, set some of your AI to 'hard' and 'defensive' and see how well you break his wall :)
