Question about two license per Serial key

Hello everyone, long time lurker, first post on this game. I am chomping at the bit to get this game and I just can't wait. I read that each Serial number will be good for 2 computers to play. Does this mean that I can download and install it at my house and then my friend can download it and we can play online against each other? That would be fantastic!

Thanks,

-Will

1 serial for 1 game in online play.
However, you can LAN 2 copies with only 1 serial.

You only get one liscense, but it allows you to install on two computers that you "own". Which also means you can install it on your friends computer for LAN games, and they don't mind that :D

But your friend should support Stardock and buy Sins since there arent many of those good publishers out there...

Ah, but thats the point: once his friend plays it for a while, he's going to want a copy of his very own :D

For clarification, is there a "direct connect" method? Is that the same as LAN for the serial number and not using the online matchmaker. I agree that once he plays he's going to want to get it but for now he's in NY and I'm not but we usually play some games online and I know if he played it he would get hooked :) I can't wait!

You mean to say "I hope there is a direct connect option so that we can use something like hamachi.." lol

Not that I or (hopefully) anyone else here would ever help someone set things up that way. Some of my corporate clients pay me very well indeed to hunt-down-and-kill applications like hamachi, skype, etc. on their corporate networks.

I love that part of my job! Nothing beats walking into some poor saps office (after having nailed down his system as one running "forbidden" apps) and suggesting he go have a chat with the company directors! :)

Anyway, I digress....
Sins baby......can't wait!!!  :HOT:

@ The Monk, no I'm not talking about something like Hamachi, I could set up a VPN through the router at the house if I wanted to go that route. It was a legitamate question. I make enough in my current job that I have no probs spending money on a great game and we have a 3 computer LAN where we play things like Heros and DoW40k. My question was more along the lines of if I get two licenses per serial number and the game is a digital download, then in theory (or my question was) if I could buy one copy and have my friend download and use the "second copy". If not, no biggie, we'll get two. It was more to save me the hassle kind of thing :)

Hi Will - The answer is no. You only get 1 serial number per copy of the game.  We've made it so that if you're running a home LAN that your serial can spawn a second instance of the game, but it won't work for Internet play.

Thats great news!

I remember the days of BuckCraft 2, when those who had not spent cash could at least get some taste of the gameplay before they purchased, to see if they indeed wanted to. I know a number of my game group who might certainly be interested in sampling the play this way... definitely after I beat them with an insistent stick.

(as opposed to the rotten stick I am beaten with when I ask once again, "Is it done yet?"...)

I like the whole idea of being able to play LAN with a single key* so you can have a quick game with a friend, without buying two games ;)

* of course, we all know that the game will be cracked within the day, and assholes will play LAN anyway, key or not.

Stupid question:

I am I right in assuming that if I install it on 2 computers, then uninstall it from one of them, I will be able to install it on a third? Because I will still only have 2 instances of the game.

That would be correct. ;)

1+1 = 2
2-1 = 1
0+1 = 1

Easy isnt it =) just joking
