Some stuff I think need impoovement.

I've only played Beta 3 with the only faction available being the normal "trade humans"

1) Dont like that the weapons on the frigates, capital ships dont aim at the enemy target before firing. On the Marza Dreadnaught the ship fires an enemy broadside while all its weapons are up on the dead front of the ship.

2) Add some simple animation. When a cannon fires, animate it being pushed back by the force of the projectile it just fired. Its easy stuff.

3) Nice blenders and shadows, but not very realistic ones. Homeworld 2 had the best shadow system I've ever seen, not that overally was better, but it was more interactive with its enviroment.

4) Make the suns be more bright up close. It looks like a liquidy huge ball as it is right now.

5) Fighters go through solid ship hulls when docking or launching. Why dont they use the ship docking bays.

6)Planets seem to have lights on the dark side whether they are populated or not. Shoulnt planets be dark completely when nobody lives in them?

7)The team should have found a way to make planetary influence lines extend to other solar systems. It reduces the fun when you can use this ability when playing in a multiple solar system game.

8)Cobalt light frigate weapons fire sucks so bad. I know its not meant to be a powerful vessel, its weapons fire is very dull. No bloom no nothing. More eye candy please.

Thats it I guess. I will post again if I find something.

Other than that love the game cant wait to play it in full.

9) Missile fume tails should be replaced. Its very hard to see them even up close.
You could do some fume tails like the ones the fighters in the game. Even though you still wont be able to see the missiles, you will see the better and more easy to see fumes.

10) The ships should start to loose some of their health when venturing too near in the sun. You could play alot with this one. Or you could make ships venturing too close to the sun invisible to the ones a bit further due to electromagnetic interference.

Planets are ALWAYS populated... From what I understand... Bombing the planet only removes or KILLS those who are supporters of the current faction in control.

Well... if they are always populated how come they dont have all these funky flying car highways before you colonize them.

11) Ships should have the symbol you've chosen for your faction on their hulls.

Do you have bloom turned on in the options>effects menu?

u prollay have the beta version which is available on torrent sites. :o

Though no offense to you, i understand that ppl want to test the game in this way or get at least a first impression.
But its exactly just that, not more than a little demo and really outdated by now.
A lot was already changed in beta4 and even more will be changed for the final release.
So writing here feedback based on such an old beta is not really usefull. :)

And he's blatantly admitting it. The idiot.
Stealing the game and offering suggestions, then ignoring the search buttons or even bothering to check the changelogs.

I'm sure people will forgive me if I know exactly where you can put your suggestions...

Yeah, especially when half of them have already been shot down (not that I like the reasoning behind not having moving (and by extension animated) turrets, but I recognize it as valid).

It is because of fear of this type of situation developing that I think we have not got any updates in months and the beta was really crippled for what it is worth. However it would not have been politically prudent for SD/IC to have came directly to the community and stated that this was the reason behind the policy.

It is telling however that I have not see the beta4 on any torrent sites yet. I have only see beta3 on two sites. One of them public and the other private. The beta2 was released on one public site as well.

i just cant take anything with poo in the name seriously >.<

Stats wise Sins has been "snatched" about 200 times from the private site in 24 hours since it has been posted. It has been snatched about the same amount from the main public pirate site as well as the secondary one and oddly enough the beta2 is still active on both public sites. On the other private sites I know about it is also in about the same range. It has been posted on 10 other sites as well. I would say a little over 3000 copies have been downloaded from all the sources I can find over the past year.

Please keep in mind that this number is by no means exhaustive nor comprehensive but I do have access to all the major private and of course public communities so I think it is a pretty good reading overall. These numbers can either been seen as good or bad given ones perspective. For example high DL count = high interest and low DL count = low interest.

Moreover in the NFO file as well as UL statement about the torrent there is a very lengthy preface telling everyone about SD and to support SD/IC and that the UL is for demo or teaser purposes only and to buy the final when it goes public. This is UNIVERSAL in all the torrents I have seen. This is not something that is common or even rare for torrents to say the least.

Additionally in a couple of them the UL have stated that the final will not be posted by them. If people want it then they should pony up the cost and get it via legit means.

It does appear that even the most hardcore "pirate" communities have lots of love for SD. Not that is justifies the postings in any way nor that it will make Frogboy or the Ironboys any less angry. But it is telling nonetheless.

I shall keep monitoring the situation and update SD/IC privately if they wish. This kind of stuff should not be hashed out in public for obvious reasons. Years ago I used to update Frogboy about GS postings but he never responded to my emails so I stopped doing since I figured he was either to busy or simply not interested and I did not want him to think I was some kind of stalker type. :NOTSURE:

BTW: Before anyone asks, I do business and product development consulting and research as well as public relations work and executive and personal training and I must stay current with trends in various markets especially with regards to tech and user trends and knowing the "pulse of the Internet" is a big part of that - 'nuff said.

@SD/IC - if you guys dont want this info on these forums feel free to delete this post as well as the prior one I will understand.

UPDATE: I have spent some time reading comments posted to the torrents on several of the site. And the sediment in ALL of them is the same. If you download the file you should buy the game when released if not your a chump and other such things. There were a few who posted that they did not want to pay for a beta but still wanted to check it out anyway to see if it would interest them and yet others that preached the gospel of SD and its hero Frogboy but none of the traditional stuff about screw the company - etc... one finds in those type of posts.

Sorry guys, but I did try to preorder the game with 3 different credit cards.
But stardocks website had a problem selling me the game online. I guess their sales department doesnt support Greece.

You still need to enter your register key before being able to play online in this game, right? Thats how it should be anyways ;p

The games that are worthdownloading, one should buy it, the games that aren't worth buying are not even worth downloading.

As I said before, SD is one of the last publishers who deserve to be supported.
EA, Blizzard and .... are releasing good games, somethimes bad or awesome but their politics are annoying and hmm how should I say it and disgusting.

Even when they work with the community it doesent feel like that they do that.
And thats whats making SD and IC special.

In the Beta phase when people posted their problems their sugestions I felt that the devs and SD people listend to them, arguing, changing, ....

What did I want to say?
Buy Sins, support Stardock and sometimes try to annoy Kryo and Yarlen

Yeah. But from I can tell most people are not interested in the on-line aspect just trying it out. I also saw some advertised as "activation cracked" which is strange since Sins has no activation that I know of so I think the files are suspect.

i am reading this forum post in horror
maybe you right that people who download beta 4 from torrent sites
will buy the game you said 3000 downloads we be lucky if only half of that
wil buy the game bu be realistic here if you can get the full version for free
the choice is easy enough dont you think??(i never have illegaly downloaded)
I pre-ordered this game to play beta and help out the devs because i think
the devs are one of a kind company.
one question though the ones that get this game illegaly cannot play online right?
(because i hate to play with thiefs)
People cant download beta 4 because noone released it.

You never have illegaly downloaded ...
;) oh man, dont make such jokes I could have fallen from my chair just joking

There is a way to play online, but not over Ironclad Online where youll be mostly.
So you wont face any real Pirates at all.
