Luke Skywalker meets Debbie Does Dallas

OMG!!!

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/163925.html
I just saw this "discussion" about sex in video games and these loons actually called Mass Effect a porno hybrid because it has the side view of the back end of an alien in it as well as the side view of of a chest.

They are also claiming that the a new study from UM clearly shows teen boys cant tell the difference from reality and games unless they have an experience.

Why cant anyone with some real knowledge of gaming ever get some time on TV prime time to set these morons straight. There is more sex on TV, books & mags, movies and billboards then there has ever been in games. Yet to hear these loons games are the thing corrupting impressionable minds.

Additionally if anyone is interested in the background of this travesty it was all started by some Christian fundamentalist with an apparently very popular blog. Gamepolitics as the story here. The follow up after a massive revolt by gamers is here.

This nitwit said ME offers customizable sodomy to teen boys and some other highly disturbed comments. His angle is games = the devils work in 3D or some such bullshit like that.

The VP of EA reviewed the lady's book. Here is the Link. People should leave a comment in his thread.

It appears EA is going to war over this travesty. It has published an article on NextGen. This is the link.

UPDATE: Fox News responds to EA and basically blows EA off is a very unprofessional manner.

Didn't you know? Games are the cause of all the society's problems these days! Surely graphic R-rated movies that anyone and their dog can go see to watch guts splatter all over in a highly realistic fashion has less of an effect on people than seeing pixelated blood on pixelated walls, right? It makes perfect sense :P

Same applies to nudity, of course. Hell, some PG13 movies even have boobies in full view(read: 5th Element), and any game that comes even remotely close is automatically rated M :P

haha they should rename it to filth element :D

lol its simple ppl cant stand the idea that they are shitty parents thus they have to blame tv/video games etc etc 4 thier stupid unbehaved kids...

much more easy to go "its the video games that caused my kid to be a complete loser drop out" rather then face the fact that if parenting had a licence they prob would not get one...

ppl who accuse tv/video games should be ran over with a truck...dont worry they wont die they just respawn... MUAHAHAH.

i might agree with the fact that 4 a non trained person it is a bit hard to see the difrence from game grafiks to reallity beacause i have been playing computer games since i was 4 or 5 and when i saw the trailer to the game i thought they where doing an interwiev with one of the guys making the game i realised was the real game when there a few seconds later walked an alien into the room

but the thing with sex in the i surdenly cant agree to cuz almost all rpg games i have ever played you could reveal a mans chest and i have just been in the public library where i loaned the third amarican pie movie where the only the women dosent take of is their underpants and to make it even worse the movie was rated 4 everyone

The problem with Mass Effect "sex scene" is that there were no sex... i repeat NO SEX in the game. It only made it look like they were going to do something.
Its like when 2 women goto the bathroom together or when 2 women sleep in the same bad, do they have sex EVERY time? just because you cant see what they are doing?

if im wrong i soo gotta talk to some x's :HOT:

Sadly the poor "expert" gamer guy was setup to get a beating by the other "experts". At least he tried to fight back but was cut off every time. The hypocrisy of it all just pisses me off to no end.

Also what is up with the double standard about chests? That has always irked me. When I was younger I asked teachers about it and the response was nearly universal. Breast were covered because they were like "sex organs" and boys (like me) could not help ourselves when looking at them we would naturally get aroused. Whereas for little girls and women it did not work that way because they felt all warm inside, but we as boys could not hide it. So the ladies had to -etc.. This is no joke. That explanation was told to me by several professional people at my elementary school.

Oddly enough I knew several fat boys that had bigger breasts then many girls. However they were not made to cover their chests and when I protested this clear double standard I got in trouble. Yet I was only trying to make sure the rules were followed.

Now there's a can of worms :P Alas, I don't think that part of our society will ever change - even if there are female-run groups and organizations protesting the same thing :P

Fact is anyone can be called an expert now and the media of this sort can very unreliable because all it it reports is doom and gloom because well face it you get more views if its about something dramatic and sad then if its boring "oh everything is fine".

Yeah, he tried to address her point and she constantly ran off on (irrational) tangents.

Wow did you guys see the comment thread on Wired over this? Well over ten thousand of them! That should be reported on as news in and of itself. One of the other "major" networks should do it just to poke hot irons at Fox. Oddly enough the Fox tech/game review guy praised it as something special to be sure "a must have for home" I think were his words.
Its FOX news, I mean what do you exect.

A rather famous comedian put it this way.

"You know, fantasy movies aren't selling well at all these days. I guess whenever people want to see some real fiction they turn on FOX news"

Plus, never trust what the news says about any research, they always overdramatize it. Just like they did with the whole "Anti-depressants cause suicide" thing, and that time they actually won and scared everyone.

Meh... Clearly overreacting to something that wouldn't even get a PG-13 rating if seen in a movie. Double standards and blind condemnation are pretty much standard fare on all TV "news" nowadays.

p.s. If Mass Effect is so evil, How did Leisure Suit Larry ever make it to market and why do we never hear about it?

p.p.s. I take offense to the implication that game players are all immature 13 year olds who don't know what sex is. I mean... Schod is the only one here even remotely like that.

That's basically what's going in the media right now. In 20 years it will start all over again, a new form of media will be attacked by the people who fought so hard to defend their new form of media. The only difference is that we'll be the attackers most likely.

But to me the funniest part was when the one person said, not sure who it was, that it was hard to keep up on what their kids were playing and mentioned how they had to pick up the box and turn it over to see the rating. LMAO lazy
