New to Strategy games but interested in Sins :D

Hello.

I'm kinda new to the whole Strategy gaming thing (Starcraft and its ilk have always made me cry), but I've been reading the beta diaries on QJ.Net and it's made me interested in the game.

My questions are, is Sins of a Solar Empire accessible to newbies, and will it be shipped to the Philippines?

OH! And one last question: Since you have updates and stuff online... will there be a way to get the game and patch it with all these new goodies through torrenting or some other way where I can stop and start the download? The connection in the Philippines is quite inferior to America's internet connection, so I wanted to know more about it. :)

NOTE: I think I may have posted this twice. I got confused as to where to put this.

I would say yes, it is fairly friendly for new players. Although i have not seen the final release the tutorials seemed to be pretty easy to get to grips with.

Not sure about shipping to teh Philippines but you can purchase online through Stardock.

Thanks Chip.

I'm just worried about connection issues if I try to download the thing, which is why I prefer a boxed game. :)

I don't blame you there. I to would rather have the HC if only for teh manuals and sometimes they come with cool stuff.

If you can see these forums you can get the game. It is that simple.

The only thing that may be an issue is the localization factor. The Total Gaming Network (TGN), the digital distribution arm of StarDock (SD) doles out all its electronic goodness in English.

Yeah... and I like to keep a collection of the boxes I own for the games I've bought for my computer, which are mostly RPGs like Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate or Action RPGs like Diablo.

Sorry for the double post. Just noticed your reply now. :) Most Philippine gamers are fluent English speakers, so that's not a problem. The main problem will either come in the form of connection issues for trying to download the game, or the relative scarcity of original games in a country inundated with piracy.

That being said, I'll check with the Data Blitz chain of original game-selling stores here to see if they'll carry it. Thanks. :)

The SDC program you download through includes a download manager, so disconnects and starts and stops shouldn't be that big a deal.

I don't think Stardock has any publishers for the Philippines. If money is not a big factor for you, they'll happily ship the game to you on release day, but you get the Collector's Edition by ordering from Stardock which weighs 3 lbs and will cost a bit to ship overseas ;)
