5$ more for the digital version compare to the retail version?

5$ more for the digital version compare to the retail version?

That puzzle me. I'm a little low on money right now (wife is not working) but I'm really interested in the game. Now it will retails at 39.99$ in store but if I want to get it, I have to wait for them to get the game (and in Canada, it's often 1 or 2 days after the US street date).

I'm considering buying it from Stardock, but it seems they are charging 5$ more for the same game, digitally, than the retail version which comes with a DVD, box and manual?

am I missing something?

The only difference is a reach around. :SURPRISED:

Hmmm, i was under the impression that the retail version will be around $39.99, digital download $45.95 and CE $49.95.

(above is a canadian store and canadian dollars)

Also under the impression that digital download was only a download, and nothing more. Only with the CE would you actually get anything extra.

Am i wrong on the digital download? And i just realized i was assuming these store prices are in US dollar, is that right or wrong?

Download-only orders also get downloads of the soundtrack and PDFs of the printed CE goodies.

Ohhh, we save you the cost of pressing a CD, printing a box, printing a manual/goodies, and shipping/storing all that jazz. In return we get charged an extra 5 bucks but we get a bunch of pdf's we will never even bother to look at. Ummmm, why does my butt hurt all of a sudden? Oh yeah, cuz all of us who prefer Digital Downloads to walking to the store are getting screwed.

I buy most of the games I play so I can help support the industry. maybe I'll just pirate yours since you started the raping and pillaging with us.

Hi, person who doesn't know what he's talking about and not making any sense.

If you ask SD directly, I'm sure they'd be glad to help you "downgrade" to a regular edition. Personally, I'm looking forward to the music CD... and I'm still begging the devs to sign my manual for me :D

Was waiting to hear that would be the case :D

Being in Europe and all, and having bought it from TGN, it's still a lot cheaper than what i'll ever get it at retail (and sooner)

---

Many people who got it for 45$, if they knew it would be available at retail for less, would probably prefer to get it at retail only (not everyone cares about collector's editions).

Still everyone that falls on this cathegory has also been playing sins for a long time, and they had the chance to make it a better game and thus get a better game for the money. - to me this would already be worth the extra 5$

Why didn't you or someone else just say so?

NO WHERE is this information stated, other then in kryo's post.

So this statement still stands.

But take this scenario: Potential customer goes to store and sees the game for $39.99. He/she then goes back home to look up reviews (which is what i always do) and finds the game can be downloaded with no hassle with a CD. So Potential customer visits site and realizes you are charging $5 extra and can not see any reason for this. Potential customer leaves thinking SD is greedy and decides to buy Warhammer game pack instead (example of misolanius game).

Lets see, charing $5 extra for a "digital download" without informing people that the DD will include a downloadable version of everything in the CE edition (and what will not be in retail) except a physical manual. Someone needs a smack in the back of the head for bad marketing.

-edit- err, forgot about the tech-tree poster and hotkey card, but the music and artwork alone justifies $5 -edit-

And FSS (for somethings sake) put this info in the store page on this site and on total gaming, see quote for reason.

Frogboy made an announcement about it yesterday.

This thread should probably be locked and have a BIG post about how people are getting the CE version if they ordered from Stardock.

I agree. Some of the comments border abusive and threatening piracy is inappropriate.

I don't think I've ever seen stardock lock a post before... :SURPRISED:

It doesn't matter if it's plastered all over the forums, put it on the store page and problem solved.

Those people who have threatened to pirate the game have been banned. Anyone else who makes such statements will also be banned.
