Confirmed, the games autosave at a set frequency, so if someone crashes you just load the previous autosave and continue :)

In the beta it saves every 10 minutes, so a crash should be at most a 10 minute loss.

If someone does crash out , can you save the game immediately after the person has crashed out. Give him the savegame file on msn or somewhere , then restart game?

Yes, but you have to do it before the host actually kicks him from the game -- if you do it after, the AI takes over his empire, and that will make him sad.

In the Q&A the devs stated that a human player can relaim his spot after he has been replaced by a AI. But this need to be done from a save (restart the game), it can not be done while in-game.

I haven't been able to get any autosaved games to load. These were local multiplayer games, and the autosaves showed up but when the other party tries to join the loaded game they get the error "Saved Game not found: AutoSave-16" or whatever the number is. The autosave files do show up on their computer though, so it seems like it just doesn't recognize the saved game files as belonging to the restarted game.

Yeah, that is a known bug that has been fixed long ago.
