Ingame star graphics

and their possible appearances...

Hi guys;
I was just wondering; on some screenshots scattered online I have noticed that the stars around which the planets orbit tend to be nicely textured but somehow (for me) uninspiringly dull. Is this just on the (early) betas, or will it be in the final release as well? What do you guys think of making them considerably brighter, like those beauts in Nexus: the Jupiter Incident or some of the skirmish maps for Homeworld 2.
Furthermore, what of a glare effect from these stars whenever you're facing them (like the HW2 map Shield), though this can, I realize, get annoying.

Thanks again.

If difficult for me to answer without knowing which screenshots you are referring to, but I'll do my best :)  The texture as you said is highly detailed, and you pretty much answered your own question, the shine is intentionally controlled because the hi contrast can be very blinding as you play!  The look of the SINS stars was inspired by filtered closeup photos of our own sun.  The most exciting star feature can't even be seen from a screenshot - animated solar flares swirling all over the surface!  I have a feeling you are going to like this ;)
