my guess is a couple of days..

Think of how clogged the lines will be straight after 'release' time.. unreliable, constantly disconnecting, top speed 2kbps downloads.. I think I'd rather wait a week :/

File size is prolly around 1 GB . So ummm however long it usually takes you to download 1GB... Unless the internets crash :NOTSURE:

Seriously?

Err.. quite a while. Might be a good idea to get a torrent of it, in case the internet d/c's or crashes. Unless Stardock Central supports a stop and start download function.

Edit: If you keep up a rate of 28kb/s, then about 10 hours, give or take.

oh no, 28.8 kbps is my listed speed or whatever, ill normally get around 2.8 kbps when downloading... is that going to take a long time?
Right... err... I don't know how to put this...

28 / 10 = 2.8
so...
10hrs X 10 = 100 hours
100hrs = About 4 days 2 hours or something.

Hope you ordered the Box as well, as it might arrive before you get the download. Godspeed son, your going to need it.

28kbps? Thats not funny.
I got a really annoying slow Broadband connection, that compared to that is almost instant load lol
Put it this way, my 256kbps (@31kbps Download) will do the game (~2GB) in about maybe 10 hours
So i'll be stealing alot of bandwidth from you guys lol :p

Ask a friend to download it for you (ie, install Stardock Central on his comp, log in, DL the game, back up to a couple of CDRs or a DVD) go home, and then use Stardock Central to restore the backup? I don't know if that would work, but it just might.

it might be illegall and if it is i am extremely sorry mods et all...

andy, if there are any internet cafe's near you, and if you own an ipod/something with a few free gb's of memory, you could go to one of them and stick in you *whatever*, that you have previously installed stardock central to, and then download sose using the uber speed of the internet cafe

make sure to uninstall it and wipe your account from the computer

Dudes, I strongly belive eet does not have such a connection. He's kidding guys. I've seen replays of him kicking butt in Sins beta (edit: online against human opponents of course.) No way that can be done with 28.8kbps :HOT:

Wait a minute? It was *that* eet right?.... bah, whatever

I feel bad for all you peeps with a slow speed. I didn't realise so many had Dial Up still. I think we've got 8 meg BB, and on a good day can get 800kb/s, so only 20 minutes for me ;)

Like other people have said, it might be worth upgrading to the Digital Download AND Box now. I see you live in the US, so delivery time shouldn't be too bad, and the extra shipping cost won't be as much as if you were in Europe or anywhere else in the world.

Edit: Lol, just realised that Eet wasn't the OP author, my bad.

you people are talking about dwnloading sins of a solar empire right? if thats so please tell me how to do it...do i need some special verifivation or is it for free.. thanks
Reply #24 Top
lol. It is not free. You get the option of buying it online from Stardock and then you can download it when it is released. If you want (and for an additional small charge), you can get a box shipped to your address.

It's worth mentioning that connection speeds are listed in kilo- or mega- bits per second while the game size is in gigabytes.

With the numbers I ran on 56k dial-up it will take about 51 hours, on a 1.5mbps connection, which is typical of DSL, it should be about 2 hours, and on an 8mbps connection like Uzii's it would only take about 20 minutes like he said.
