Why I will be buying this game

The primary reason behind my purchasing this game is to support developers such as myself who do not believe in restricting a user’s access to software which they have paid for.

I sincerely hope this game sells well and serves as a message to other development houses and potential developers that if you respect your user-base and do not treat them like criminals that they will respond in kind by creating a productive and supportive community.

As a developer myself I understand the necessity to protect what I have created, but once a dedicated group of users decides to crack DRM, there is no extent to which they will not go. Because of this, the negative effects of DRM are limited only to valid customers who have legally purchased the software, and not to the pirates who have removed said DRM and uploaded their frankenstein versions to popular P2P networks.

This is an inherently flawed system and in its' current form serves only to frustrate paying customers and embolden pirates.

Support those that respect you and treat you with dignity.

Yes, Stardock certainly has set an example of how Customers SHOULD be treated. Makes me wish other companies would do the same. They also know how to make fun and addicting games that seem to suck you in for hours on end.

.. exactly.. Amen. Thats what i've been thinking all along as well, nearly in those exact same words. Since pretty much every single game gets cracked sooner or later, everyone that pirates/downloads that game gets the cracked un-protected version..
So in essence, the only people that gets/uses the protection is the honest paying customers.

Its like (exaggerated, but still) putting honest ppl in jail to prevent murder. Not something we should accept. You arent guilty until the crime has been commited.
So why are we always treated as criminals (denying you to make a backup-dvd), with bars (the copy-protection) in front of our windows (our spent money), when we bought it honestly?
