Taxes and delivery prices?

I was told today that this game has come out, and immediately made a beeline for the buy page. I saw that the box was only $5 so I decided that would be cool, and clicked Buy. This is the first time I have bought a stardock product, and I was saddened to see postage is so high. Why is postage to my country $20 when it costs me about $10 to mail a DVD box to the US?
Also if I do chose to order the box will it be sent as a gift to avoid taxation? Otherwise my game will end up costing me almost double the stated price due to Customs stopping the package, and placing a 17.5% tax on it, and it will be delayed past the 2 weeks postage by them being slow to inform me . I'll probably buy the game anyway, but avoid the box due to the massive extra cost. Are there any plans for UK distribution because I'd rather wait and buy a boxed copy that way.
