sin.sdc download failure

I've downloaded the game about three times now and it keeps failing. It installs all the way to 100% but then restarts and freezes with sin.sdc I was already seriously pissed off that I didn't get my serial code until about 12:30 and now the damned stardock central is screwing over my download. I've restarted my computer every time and retried with no luck, and I found somewhere that someone suggested choosing archive + download but that doesn't work either... I'm seriously about to lose it. HELP!

Which version of SDC are you running? Help->About SDC

Which OS are you using and does your user account have limited privileges?

Do you have any security apps running that could possibly be interfering?

If you right click Sins in the download list and choose Download and Archive, does that get the full file to you? (Use Ctrl+R to restore when it's complete)

I'm running 2.52 of Stardock on Windows XP fully updated and my computer has full privileges. I AM on a student network at college, but I don't think that it is interfering. I've used stardock before with GalCiv2 and everything worked fine, as have most applications of the like.

When using download and archive, it seems as though the entire game downloads, then reverts/restarts and freezes. I haven't had any problems with the download stopping in the middle, but it always freezes AFTER ive reached 100% and then it times out. The archive does not appear after having downloaded, its as if it promptly deletes the download before it archives. Ive tried switching between the US1 and US2 servers but that doesn't seem to make any difference. The only thing that seems to have changed is my download speed, which has continued to drop all afternoon. I account this to more traffick, but I was receiving rates of around 700 KB/sec and completed the first download in a little over 10 minutes early this afternoon and it has continued to decline to around 50-100 KB/sec at the moment.

In case of a miracle im about 3/4 done at the moment on my fourth download. My speed it back up a little bit to 125-150 KB/sec. We'll see in a little while!

If it fails again, go to Tools -> Settings -> Internet and click Refresh XML Data.

i have the same problem. it gets to 100% and then restarts the download, neither normal install or install + archive works

Alright, so i've let it run for like the past five hours and of course it never worked itself out. It never gave a time out message, but it just stopped/froze while still acting like it was working. So, I never got a mini-dump error message showing a time-out, it just didn't do anything for like 4 hours. I'm trying to get creative... I went into the Temp directory and am sorta screwing around with the seemingly complete but stubborn .sdc file in winrar. If I have any luck i'll report...

Any luck with fixing this? Mine also repeatedly downloads. One time it showed up with a log file saying the download was corrupt or something...but I can't find the log file anywhere.
