While I don't necessarily agree with the pirates methods, I don't see what the big deal is if pirates are limited to Singleplayer skirmishes anyways. Some pirates might even buy the game anyways. It's not like we've had any demo of the game yet.

1.) Since when is a pre-release demo necessary? It's not, so quit whining about that. There's already been a plethora of open feedback thanks to the betas, and if you're really up in the air about the game, hold off the whooooole month (OMG ur liek gonna diez...please) for the demo. Simple.
2.) It's a big deal because they're still stealing a product, and far more importantly, stealing a product from a pair of companies that have been advocating for DRM free software. Smooth move...
Pirates copies don't have a legal cd key so they won't be able to play Multiplayer, or download any patches/updates.
