No Australia vs World?

No Australia vs World?

wtf

Ok first off this is a awsome game dont get me wrong!

But just because I live in australia dose not give you the right to not let me play online
with others around the world.

I cant get into any games online besides AU/NZ hosted games. I think this is so bloody stupid that because I am Ocianic I can only play on severs hosted by AU and NZ.

This is probably going to sound dumb, but where do I browse/find MP games to join? In the MP screen all i see is available Lan games and a place to type the iP address.

Please tell me that there's a simple browse function to join games or something? I find that a lot easier/quicker to just join random games rather then having to use forums for an IP , etc...

You just don't understand, do you? I said:
I don't think it's all that good an idea to start an argument about "who's right", or even to say that you *hope* they're right with a dev.
End of quote

You're right, you weren't arguing (the first clause), but you were saying that you *hope* they're right with a dev. Why can't you seem to understand that? Don't you know what the word "or" means? Come on! Think! It's just annoying to see someone totally miss the meaning of a comment again and again and again. Three times now!

And once you've finished reading, read again, because it seems you can't understand the word "or"! I didn't say you were arguing! I only said it's not a good idea *to* argue because argument is a greater set of what someone might say to a dev when doubting their word. You simply doubted Blair, and I advised against it.
Read!
*sigh* never mind, it seems I can't get through to you. Just enjoy the game; I'm jealous of you on that point :P

And before you say you didn't doubt Blair, think about why you said you hoped he was right.

Stiler, there should be a function to browse - but I'm afraid I can't help you since I don't have the game :P

its quite hilarious how u r trying to blow something completely out of proportion. wow its funny how my post completely blows ur mind.. mate, i really cant help but laugh at u now. take no offense i just find it quite funny..

now on to the game: why cant i host? i opened 6112 and have no firewall installed as i uninstalled it ages ago.

:P Well, I'm glad you're not arguing with me. Seems you finally got the point.

I won't say more on this (apart from this :P ) but the reason I got so angry was because it was three times in a row that you didn't understand what I was saying. It almost leads me to think that now, since you've lost the argument, you're trying to keep some face by laughing at me. Well, I guess we can laugh at each other then :P

Can't help you with the port, I'm afraid... let's wait for the update...

i wasnt even trying to argue with u in the first place though. but u seem to try so hard. catch my drift.

:) I hope this isn't going to turn into an insult match. You must like school.

Anyone that argues on personal terms is clearly not able to argue logically. Can we move on, now that this is settled?

Hi Sinilaid,

I can assure you it has nothing to do with where you're living :)
The error comes up when the game you are trying to join in progress or the Host is having firewall/port forwarding issues.  It has nothing to do with where you live :)

No one is discriminating against any country.  I know many of you are sensitive to this because you've experienced it in other games, and I feel for you...that can really suck.

We will be releasing a patch that makes ICO even easier to use. It will clear up some of the confusion and get you guys into games a little faster. In the meantime, refresh your game list before you try to join, or try hosting your own game without firewall restrictions.

Multiplayer is basically LAN. Below it you can select Ironclad Online for logging into chat and game server. I had to create a new account for that with the serial number (couldn't use the account for Stardock or these forums), which was odd.

Stardock & IC have both been very supportive in the past but . . .

They have advertised and sold me a game with a strong multiplayer component, and until right now I have had no idea that I could not connect to games around the world. If I'd known this I would not have purchased the product.

They have not publicised this anywhere (that I saw) and I'm going to nicely suggest that the devs fix it, refund the oceanic players for selling us an incomplete product, or risk some litigious person taking action further.

In the meantime Oceanic gamers will be giving this game an accurate review on gaming web-sites (e.g. gamespot.au). Can't see EB Games Australia being too thrilled to sell it when they'll get returns from people who find out the multiplayer doesn't work outside of Oz!

Heh you mean a game with nothing BUT multiplayer and standard skirmish mode :3

i really dont see any insults being said. if u take what i said, that u try so hard to start an argument offensive well really u shouldn't...
*shrug* you just don't get it, do you? A perceived lack of insults is just stupid, and you know it. But I don't expect you to understand. I suppose it comes with experience.

But if you don't see any insults, then what discussing? Why not mourn Gilly's test retirement? :P Or maybe the end of a very long drought in Australia? Much better topics.

I find it hard that Ironclad would leave a bug such as this when the game gets released in Oz, even if it is there should already be a patch(es) by then. I should have picked up on this comment before. Any way Australia has always been discriminated by the gamming industry, through pricing, launch dates and having little support outside of the US, we aren't a large enough market for developers and publishers to care about since it is the US/Canada and European markets that they are really targeting.
Hey mate, read the comment by Craig - that should clear it up (i.e. that this problem isn't specific to Australia). Otherwise, enjoy the game!
I read that but I kept see that quote popping up but I was also saying something not reflecting on Ironclad that Australia is disciminated by the gamming industry look at THQ's actions on steam, Sierra/Vivendi did some shifty work during tribes 2 world comp against the Australian and New Zealand teams so it would be an all US final.

Oh I see - thanks for that :)

This is one of the most hilarious bug reports i have ever read. "Hey i`ve got a bug that means my whole country has this bug, nazi developers! I`m suing you!"
Yeah, I agree. Despite being an Australian, I must say we are pretty arrogant when it comes to bug reports... we come across one and immediately assume it's coz we live in one of the only westernized societies in the Southern Hemisphere.

Despite all the other threads on the issue as well, lol.

Gez I wonder what people thought about STALKER when it came out and many other popular buggy games, time for the class action suit.

just so you guys know, i live in the us and had the same problems, so it's just the server. If you want to run a server, you should look up The_Monk's guide post he wrote, his hosted games have consistently been awesome, even when I was being rejected by every other server out there.

Here's a link:

WWW Link

And here's the essentials for hosting:

Ports that need forwarding for SINS (client&host):

TCP 6112 < --- port the game.exe listens on
TCP 6000 < --- port I'm assuming IronClad Online uses

the above ports will need to be forwarded through any network device hardware (router) you have between your computer and the internet as well as allowed connection through any software firewall along the same path.

Check out the first post in the thread for dealing with your router.

*bites tongue*

if OP didn't write this post i was about too, ten minutes after attempting to get a game and finding that the only servers i could consistantly connect too were clearly marked 'aus' games.

arrogant? try playing supreme commander or coh where 25% of the community will kick you on sight of your ping and your forced to explain yourself EVERY SINGLE TIME within the few seconds it takes for some hillbilly to kick you or complain to the host.

we have been stigmatized before so we label our games during out prime time out of habit. therefor we are easily identifiable.

however its not true ive connected to a couple of outside games (i had a 340 ping to one of em).

fact remains that we can consistantly connect to each other (when we label ourselves).

open ports please... 6112 has been open since before i could remember

EDIT: already the 'europeans only' servers have appeared lol.
one thing thats a godsend in this game is it doesn't display ping.
the day latency is a big issue for rts is the day i walk to wooben

lol yeah, I get your point - I suppose it's a touchiness and paranoia that stems of this online prejudice?
I know how you feel man - I just find it amusing :P
