Vasari Long-Range Jumps?

I finished researching Long-Range Jumps as a Vasari, but my ships still jump along the graph (i.e. even if another planet is only two hops away, they don't go directly there). I also can't make any of htem jump into an arbitrary location in the destination - they always show up by the graph line. It seems like Long-Range Jumps research had no effect at all.

What am I missing?

Long Range Jump research is to allow you to travel between star systems. It does not affect planet-to-planet jumps in any way, and is actually useless on one-star maps.

does the vasari jump gate (superweapon?) thing still exist? heard stuff about that pre-release :)

Its still in Ishonay, maxed tier research. :)

Took me a while to figure out the Long Range Jump tech. My AI opponent was driving me nuts jumping a Carrier battlegroup between his home star and a star u had just started colonizing by going there through a Worm Hole. :SURPRISED:

The phase gate isn't their superweapon, it's a normal (well, sort of :P) structure :)

But yes, it exists!

And yes phase gates are what you want to use if you want to jump along new jump lines. Basically just make two phase gates (they are high level research because that is a very powerful tool) and you can then jump between them like a normal phase jump but I believe it is a bit faster than a normal jump (it was in Beta anyway, not sure how it is in the final game as I have been playing Advent!).
