No reviews?

I was about to buy this game, just because it looked awesome and I like Stardock. But I decided this on the 3rd, and figured I'd read some reviews.

Nothing.

I waited until the 4th. Nothing.

It's on shelves today, and there's still nothing.

This, to me as a consumer, is a bad sign, as usually crappy games made on a bad budget shooting for a quick "WalMart market" sale dont' send their games to review magazines and sites early, as the 3.0/10 scores would reduce their sales.

This happened with Empire Earth 3. Looked good, a sequel to a good game, they held off reviews for a couple days, I bought it, and it was the worst game of 2007, and THEN the reviews came in a few days later, with F- scores.

Did marketing just drop the ball on this one? It seems a little weird to me.

I find it a little weird also. I mean, you'd think at least ign would have a review by now since soase was on their most anticipated 08 list.
Personally I rely on user opinions and reviews. Gamespot has a few right now.

I wouldn't worry Uranium. The major reviewers have our games :)  It won't be much longer until you have what you are looking for ;)

Writing a review should take some time, unlike how they've been reviewing games lately giving the over hyped games 10's when they obviously don't deserve them *cough* halo 3 *cough*.

Theres plenty of player testimonials and video's to watch.

There is a review over at www.gamedaily.com

I'm sure we'll see more in the coming week. I'd much rather the game reviewers actually played the game before trying to rate it. ;)

He isn't officially reviewing sins (that I know of) but the guy who wrote the linked article below is a regular reviewer for 1up.com and Games for Windows Magazine and various other places.

I'd LIKE to, but generally gamers either like or hate a game. People who like a game are pretty much the worst critics, as they won't mention any flaws, give it 132/10 scores, and talk about inane, petty crap.

To me the more cynical, jaded, and hostile the review is, the more truth there is behind it.

Gamespy has an out-of-the-box first impressions preview up here: http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/sins-of-a-solar-empire/849840p1.html

Their primary concern (and rightfully so) is that people are having problems connecting to games. Technically, they their is a bug where games that are already in progress or have already ended are being shown in the games list (so obviously they can't join). We have a fix going up soon :)

For a game like sins it should take a bit longer to review since there is much to learn and cover.

games like sins take time to review. sites like ign and gamespy that offer good, reliable reviews really work to play through the entire game, and really study all the option before the review.
