Can't find serial number (retail version).

Can't find serial number (retail version).

I tried to update the game right after I intalled it, and was directed to a page which asked for my serial number, which said it could be found on a sticker inside the DVD case. I see no such sticker...

Help?

Just got back from GameStop where I bought the serial numberless SoaSE. Told them the situation, and the guy went looking through the empty CD jackets that they keep the game disks in until they're sold. He found the one that previously had my CD in it, and low and behold, it had the serial number sticker stuck to the front of it.

I just put it in to download the update, and it worked fine.

Wow, that's insane. But like I said, mine wasn't on well, so not too surprising. Just be happy no employee registered it!

I guess it would've been in there if the store didn't open it to begin with, but what can you do. You're good to go,

I am also missing the sticker in my box as well. I too am unable to install the update. I purchased from Best Buy. Thankfully I noticed this before I threw away the box and I still have my reciept. I'm not clear though. Is it being recommended we return to the place of purchase for replacement. Or are we going to recieve aid through Stardock?

First time I've ever wished I'd done online purchase. I've purchased numerous, numerous products through Stardock online and never had any issues recieving the serial number via email. I was just looking through my list in my account and there they all are, going back over the years.

If it was me, and it was easy to get to Best Buy, I'd try there first, because it will be faster. But good luck, because they're terrible in the customer service department. If you explain the deal, and insist they open one when you're sitting there, it should hopefully go ok. The label should be affixed inside the case. For me it was right above the DVD.

If that doesn't work contact Stardock. They may take a day or two, but they'll help you out.

I ordered the download + mailed CE and the serial from the e-mail doesn't match the one on the sticker. Looks like the 70 bucks spent on the whole package + shipping bought me 2 legit copies of this game  :HOT:

My boxed version has a sticker, but no matter what number i try on it, it won't work... I've tried every digit and letter on the sticker, but it still doesn't work...

I just got one that didn't come with a serial # sticker too. :( Makes me a sad panda. I bought it at a gamestop. I sent an email to support like it says above, but haven't heard anything yet. My ticket # is YIZ-617804

If it was one of the opened shelf copies, you should also check with the store. They're supposed to remove the serials from those ones so people can't just walk in and steal them, and may have just forgotten to give it to you when you bought it.

Purchased a SEALED retail package from Gamestop... no Serial in package. Received prompt reply from [email protected] as follows:

Please try to exchange the game at the retailer you purchased it from. Explain the situation and they should be willing to do an even exchange for you. Please make sure the new copy has a serial number before you leave the store. We have had trouble with EB Games not providing their customers with the serial numbers at the point of sale.

If they will not do the exchange, there is nothing more that Stardock can do. The game is fully playable out of the box, however, you will not be able to get updates.

Actually, you should try emailing [email protected] rather than sales. There have been cases previously where users who bought legit copies of the game had no serial #s in them, and support did assign them new numbers. They have asked for photographic proof (receipt + box), however.

But it is also true that Gamestop/EB sometimes re-seal returns and pass them off as new, sadly, and support always said they don't have a blanket policy on this and treat it on a case by case basis.

The "no updates" is only half true, as well. You can get up to the current 1.05, as those were released as standalone downloads. But 1.1 and on, you will need the registered key. Multiplayer also needs a key, obviously.

OOP! Ah well... just got back from Gamestop picking up my new copy... PC SINS SOLAR CODE STKR affixed as it should be on the back of the manual. Sorry some of these have been slipping through the cracks on this release. :) Luck to all who follow!

I thought I would bring my issue up here as well.

I've sent an e-mail in to [email protected] as well.

I bought a retail version of Sins a good while ago, installed it, played it and tossed the box.  Well, I found out too late that means I can't get my updates.  I've lived with that as i'm not going to pay another $30.00 to buy a second copy of the game.

However, I just bought the digital download of the expansion from impulse and come to find out, they won't even let me downloaded it unless the original game is registered with them.

As I'm not buying the game a second time, the only options I see are that the Sales guys help me download it somehow since I bought it, or refund me the money and I'll just go buy a local copy.

As it is, there is no warning whatsoever that buying the expansion is dependant on registering your first one.  I'd be happy to register it, I'm just unable.  i could take a picture of my CD and book I reckon, and I could probably dig back through all my credit card statements to find the purchase I did at best buy for it, but that's about all I can do to prove I own the thing.

Honestly though, owning the original is out of scope for my complaint.  My complaint is that I bought the expansion but am being denied the product that I bought.

Would Serial number be the same thing as 'Cd Key' by chance, if so i've entered it many times, with and without the dashes, and capital letters and not capital letters and still no luck, how am i meant to do this?

I've brought the Entrenchment and Diplomacy expansions for Sins (online), but turns out I never registered my game and can't update it! The box is long gone, so I don't have the key for registration. Is there some way to remedy this problem without buying another game just for the key?

Would you possibly have the manual laying around? Generally the serial would be printed on the back of the manual. If not, and you are positive it was never registered, you will likely need to purchase another license for the base game.

I bought a copy in Clarksville, TN and mine didn't have a key either. I've sent emails too and nothings has supplied me with my key =\. I just want to play online.

I have the box with the serial number, but every time I enter the serial number to  try to regester it, it won't let me.
